Shame On Conservatives (for not supporting Coulter)
RightBias News ^ | 3-9-07 | Nancy Morgan

Posted on 03/09/2007 11:12:02 AM PST by nancyvideo

One of the major differences between liberals and conservatives is that liberals are much more susceptible to group think. Most on the left are content to accept the prevailing leftist talking points as their own without questioning any of the intellectual underpinnings of said argument. (Think global warming..)

Conservatives, on the other hand, are more likely to rely on the substance and facts of a debate instead of drawing their conclusions based on 'consensus' and 'feelings'. At least that used to be so.

Enter Ann Coulter.

Manners? ROFLOL What we are talking about is a woman with a big mouth who makes money by getting lots of press, nevermind that what she said reflects negatively on the people who were there.

If you think that's how to win the war of ideas and campaigns....well, let's just say that my manners are too good to say what I think.

I will show Ann Coulter the same level of support she gave to Chief Justice John Roberts.

No.

There is a difference between "you're wrong and here's why" and "you're a cow" or "you're a whore."

Of course, if they were "special pleading in favor of President Bush and Al Frankenstein called them cows. Well, Katie bar the door.

I subscribe to the what would Ronal reagan do school of political rhetoric. And, my good friend, Reagan never called any war widow a cow.

We come off like we have noting better to do that go all "Democratic Underground" and call people names.

We are better than that. Ann Coulter is a dumb bunny for not realizing that long ago. But she is no real fa of Ronald Reagan.

I see. So the "joke" is that he's effeminate, therefore a fag.

By George I think you've got it.

Your response is fair and well thought out. Let me ask you this then:

Is there ANYTHING Ann Coulter could say, provided she kept the conservative line, that you would consider out of bounds and would cause you to not support her?

So you know that I'm not trying to trap you here I'm simply trying to find out if there are no limits in your mind as long as she sounds like a female Pat Buchanan.

"Because Annie is right."

lol, how is that? John Edwards is not gay, as far as we know. And even if he was, 'faggot' is a term used not as a descriptor, but as a derider. Her sort of rhetoric has no place in rational and reasoned public debate. Conservatives would do well to be rid of her. I've read 2 of her books, and there are good facts in them, but you have to fact check everything of interest yourself because of her tendency to exaggerate or skewer statistics. Trust me, I lost an argument with my grandfather some years ago over one of her statitistics on communism. Since then it's always been, 'trust, but verify' and who has the time to do that?

We are faced with invasion across our borders, innocent people being jailed, war, terrorism, etc. - and people go into a frenzy over a word!

Was this Ann's attempt to bring attention to these issues and problems? Was it an example for people to follow? Is this how serious people at CPAC discuss the issues.

The problem I have is not the point she was trying to make but the venue she did it in. She is smart enough to know that she would get all the press, which, in my opinion, distracted the press from all of the positive events during the conference. She made herself the center of attention instead of the issues being discussed.

AMEN to that, mnehrling.

As a conservative who has become more conservative as I've gotten older, I support Ann Coulter 100%. I think all conservatives should support her.

She about the only bomb thrower we have. I throw bombs myself.

For instance:

If guns kill people then spoons are making Al Gore's ass fat and we should ban spoons before it is too late.

You said: There is NO proof that Edwards is gay, which is what faggot "now" means.

What faggot NOW means?? Who changed the meaning? It's still the same meaning to me. Faggot = Wussy. If you'd like to jump on the lib bandwagon, go ahead, but please take yourself to DUmmie Underrock.

When you say "win the war of ideas and campaigns", do you mean trying to win conservatives over to the conservative side? I did not realize CPAC was full of libs we were trying to convert, my bad! Nor did I realize Ann was running for ANY office. Again, my bad. By the way, the audience found it very funny, hense all the laughter, or did you not see that part.

You are kidding yourself if you think you and Coulter are any value in the "culture war" by flame throwing. The democrats love people like you and Coulter - every time you "get down and dirty" it makes conservatives look like loons and creates 4 more democratic voters.
<<

You got that right.

So, falsely implying that John Edwards is a "faggot" is "fighting back"?

You people crack me up.

She said she couldn't call him a faggot because of political correctness. I paraphrase, of course.

That's like saying, "I would tell you you're fat, but I'm too nice."
---<>---<>---<>---<>---

Wrong.

(BEGIN CLIP)
ANN COULTER, AUTHOR: I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word "faggot." So...
(END CLIP)

Her whole speech was a series of jokes. Go listen to it! Here are a couple of clips from the speech... the first is ANN DEFENDING gays being part of the Republican party, and thereby (I would maintain) defending at CPAC Guiliani's run for the Republican nomination:

(BEGIN CLIP)
COULTER: I'm not anti-gay. We're against gay marriage. I don't want gays to be discriminated against or — I mean, I think we have — in addition to blacks, I don't know why all gays aren't Republicans. I think we have the pro-gay position, which is anti-crime, and for tax cuts.
(END CLIP)

This is an example of the type of jokes that were being strung together within her speech:

(BEGIN CLIP)
COULTER: I am thinking, how about we put solar panels on ? What is Al Gore up to these days? About 400 pounds? My TV has been on the blink. It's a little snowy, so if you could help me with this — did Al Gore actually swallow Michael Moore?
(END CLIP)

Ann was making JOKES ... MANY of them in that speech. She hit on all of the Demodog candidates. She was poking fun at Demodogs and the society that they are part of. In the case of the FAGGOT joke, she was poking fun at the really stoopid attitude now that we should send people who think or say something that is not politically correct to rehab.

Here's a web site that has posted the video clips of Ann's brilliant speech : http://msunderestimated.com/2007/03/03/ann-coulter-at-cpac-video/ : I particularly love comment#12 from that site:

Linda Says:

I find it amazing that so many people who are too ignorant to understand Ms. Coulter’s brand of humor/satire refuse to have it explained to them. She is absolutely brilliant, managing to rattle cages and inspire “rage” from those arrogant “progressives” as she strikes them close to home. I absolutely LOVE her. I love to see the liberals turn beet red and start to stutter with spittle streaming from their screaming little mouths! Think a bit and try to see what she is trying to say. She is honest and sooooooo correct!

I again challenge you to find out what Ann actually SAID by listening to HER, not to the Old Media FRAUDCasters.

Do you realize that Ann was only doing the same thing with a word that you are doing with a picture on your page here at FR?

Edwards doesn't wear bows in his hair, and I doubt you are implying that he does by posting that picture. Ann, who is a satirist, didn't imply that Edwards is homosexual by using the word faggot. She was depicting the same image of him that you are depicting with that picture, and she did it to point out the ridiculousness of sending someone to rehab for using a WORD, as had happened recently to an actor for using the word faggot.

Condemning Ann is proving the very point she was making by her 'offensive' remark. And, it is playing into the hands of leftists, because some of us are apparently trying to silence and marginalize one of our own best proponents.

Sorry to hear that cracks you up. I think it's a cryin' shame.

"Ann is defended here because she is well worth defending, not only from Demonrats but from the hankie up the sleeve, manners at all costs, political "surrender monkey" "conservatives" who are more worried about being disliked by leftists than they are by the destruction of our nation and our civilization"

LOL.

You forgot to mention the pompous, sober, responsible conservatives, (cf Captain Ed) who are always attacking Coulter for being "immature", "childish", "not funny", "making the whole herself" "distracting from the real issues" etc.

Of course, if these sober,"responsible",conservatives, really believed that they'd be talking about the big issues like Iraq, Federal spending, etc. rather than writing about how Coulter should be banned.

I don't really have any feelings about Coulter her self but it is an important free speech issue.>>>>>

just as one side has the right to pressure their radio stations to not play the ditzy hens the other side has the same right to pressure their snews papers etc. to not print Coulter's writings.

Now if you have the goverment coming in and saying that Couler cannot speak out like she did THEN you have a free speech issue. The ditzy hens think their free speech was prohibted, it wasn't they had/have the right to blab all they want and as long as the goverment doesn't stop them their rights are intact, even if their fans choose to boycott. THey don't get that, and it sounds as if alot on the right don't get it either.
