One of the major differences between liberals and conservatives is that liberals are much more susceptible to group think. Most on the left are content to accept the prevailing leftist talking points as their own without questioning any of the intellectual underpinnings of said argument. (Think global warming..)
Conservatives, on the other hand, are more likely to rely on the substance and facts of a debate instead of drawing their conclusions based on 'consensus' and 'feelings'. At least that used to be so.
Enter Ann Coulter.

I don't really have any feelings about Coulter her self but it is an important free speech issue.
--I have no problem with standing up for her-nor for my practise of referring to the political party of criminals, cheats, thieves and traitors as the "Demotraitors"---
From a personal perspective, what she said was just good ol'fashioned tacky. I don't support any kind of potty mouth especially when it lowers the discussion into the gutter. I support her other stances but I don't support tacky potty mouths.
We cannot afford to keep shooting at each other, much less at our wounded...
Stand by her for what?
Seriously, she said something stupid for the shock value, just like she always does.. She's the Howard Stern of these book writing pundents for the right.
She's free to speak her mind, but I am under no obligation to defend her for her own boorish behavior. Will she get a fair shake in the press? Of course not, but she knows that, she's a big girl.
I'm with you on that...I never bashed Ann per se but thought she picked a lousy place to do it....I don't care one iota if she writes it in a book or wants to pontificate on Hannity & Colmes....
That said, I think the critical reaction from all corners developed into something ridiculous. One would have thought Ann used the far more vulgar four letter F-word.
And I support her 100%
I have heard no one criticize her right to free speech.
But there is a time and place for everything. Her faggot joke was at the wrong time, in the wrong place.
IMHO

I forgot to add, self-serving and inconsiderate of the setting.
I don't see why this is a hill to fight and die on.
She made a joke about political correctness and running off to rehab to fix yourself. Just so happens that when she thinks of John Edwards she thinks of Faggots. Just Annie thinking out-loud again.
Amen! That was excellent.
I stand by Ann Coulter. Sometimes I disagree with her, but I still stand by her. She is so bright and forceful, and we need people such as she is. And if he is not one of those bundles of twigs, who is?
Have you ever really listened to Howard Stern? There is no comparison between he and Ann. He is the KING of lowdown, disgusting and vulgar. Talk about the use of hyperbole...
I generally agree with the article. But personally, I draw the line with the use of vulgarity....
-----
Ann was not being vulgar. She was being real and colloquial. It does not bother me at all and it was just an opportunity for the gay-pander left to harp on one of their most notable and correct critics. That is all it was and she has my full support and kudos for calling a "spade a spade"...it fit and it was applied. Good for her.
Free speech is great. But the are consequences for saying something particularly stupid. She's notorious for her "Shock value", sometimes those who get a kick out of being shocking get a kick in the ass, deservedly so. Nobody can take away her right to say whatever she wants, but the response to her remarks is also free speech.
