In the old days you would covertly gather intelligence on your enemy to know their plans and tactics.

Today you just have to wait for the al-Liberal al-Dimocrat to announce it to the world.

Very interesting point. It's ideological I guess - beats reality every time with (il)liberals.

Yea I heard this on the radio during my drive in. They did say some Democrats are already opposing this - but it's the ones even farther to the Left than Pelosi - the ones that want us to not wait until 2008 for a pull out.

Limbaugh said the democrats have invested themselves in our defeat, and he is so right. They cannot afford to give Bush's ramp-up plan a chance to work.

Unfortunately we don't have a White House that can point this out.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a direct challenge to President Bush, House Democrats announced Thursday that they will push legislation setting a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq.

The Democratic plan, said House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, will bring an "orderly and responsible close" to American participation in Iraq's "civil war."

The proposal would require the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops by the fall of next year, officials had said Wednesday night.

The Democrats are coming up with lots of great ideas by the minute.

So let's summarize the Democrats:

1. The vote for intervention in Iraq.
2. In 2004 during the presidential elections they decide to go anti-war.
3. Their argument is that they would have been against it had they known what they know now. So they make a 180 degree turn and blame the administration for their previous pro-war position.
4. They exploit the war to their political advantage at every turn. Always trying to keep this war front and center in public discourse and the forefront in all discussions since it's perceived as a Republican and Bush war, even though they voted for it.
5. They say they are for the troops yet when many prominent Democrat politicians open their mouth like Murtha, Kerry, and others, condescending comments of our troops come out. They construct parallels to Vietnam even where their are none, propose budget cuts, exploited the Abu Gharib prison ordeal, use many of the same arguments and insults that were thrown at our troops in the late 60s......etc.
6. Now, they attempt to show that they have ideas. That they are a party of "action". After all they rode into the Senate and House based on a make belief perception of a "quagmire" another "Vietnam", a "miserable failure". Now they want to placate the far left and are forced to show that they are making a difference. So they talk of redeploying to Guam (A surreal Murtha proposal). Or they talk about time-lines. They push for non-binding Iraq resolutions. I does not matter how absurd or ridiculous the proposal is. It does not matter how destructive they are, as long as it's something that shows they are "doing" something.

"Their slogan for 2008 should be: "We are the party of action, no matter how stupid they idea, we will champion it!"

The degree of irresponsibility with which this party has dealt with our national security is of concern to every rational American and should be evidence as to their inability to govern. The non-sense coming from this party today is off the charts silly. Only in America!

You will remember I predicted this.

Both sides in Congress have decided Iraq is a losing issue for them either way in 2008. Therefore, they will make sure in 2007 that it will not be an issue in 2008.

Both sides have also decided that immigration is a losing issue for them either way in 2008. They will ram through an amnesty THIS YEAR so that it will not be an issue in 2008.

What issues will be left in 2008? Taxes, and those "social issues" that everyone keeps telling me are mere secondary considerations...

I'm also thinking...does this make an out for Hillary and her "war" vote.

Does it give her the ability to now vote against the war, after she was for it and provide her 18 months of being on the liberal side of the war? To say that the democrats have a plan and that on election day if a democrat had been in office, our troops would be home? She can now fully stand with the anti-war crowd after she was "duped" by the president.

I guess Hillary and Nancy really are fast friends. Thanks, Nanc!

More meaningless drivel with the dual purpose of damaging President Bush and our troops and aiding and abetting our enemies.

I PRAY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FIGURE THESE TRAITORS OUT BEFORE NOVEMBER, 2008!!!

Democrats unConstitutionally attempt to usurp the powers of the Executive Branch?????

There's nothing un-Constitutional about this, per se. It's a pretty roundabout way of skinning the cat, but it is the House, and they do control funding. He may be the Commander in Chief, but the Congress is not without leverage in military affairs. If President Bush doesn't like the bill, he can veto it. Which is, of course, what they're hoping for, because it will end the war just as effectively.

It's a clever, if underhanded move. I wonder if they're going to be able to get the votes together to make it work.
