So, this is more important than finding a Real Conservative candidate that can get this country back on track?
We are now allowing the media to dictate to us who the GOP candidate should be ?
Give me a break !
a) this is early days yet b) candidates and their positions are not well known by the electorate c) the M$M wants Rudy for the Rs, 'cause he's going to be easy for them to destroy d) time to find the R party a real conservative
The Quinnipiac Poll tends to lean Democrat, so the news is probably even better for Rudy and the GOP.
I wish Rudy were more conservative, but the fact remains that he is the candidate who give Hillary nightmares.
I'd rather beat Hillary with Rudy than lose to her with Gingrich.
Anyone but McCain in the primaries and anyone but Hillary in the general. I could vote for Rudy. McCain and Hillary, not so much.
It is a New York site... :)
what you said!
Not voting for him.
Rudy is the candidate who will give the Republicans nightmares - tell the base that they get to pick between two NY liberals, and plenty of them will just stay home.
Why would the media want you to nominate Giuliani if he can beat Hillary?
We've lived with someone in the White House who's far from conservative for the past six years. Why poo-poo someone who can beat a communist?
He needs to pair himself with a republican vp that will satisfy the base, IMO. (Condi or Newt?)
Maybe Ruddy should run as a Democrat, then.
(Or is it democratic?)
You really do not understand the main stream media do you?
McCain was their man in 2000 and now they've turned on him. If they help to get Rudy nominated, they'll turn on him like rabid dogs.
Moreover, Rudy would have to have a very Conservative running mate for the South to take a second glance at him.
No, Rudy is not the right one for the GOP.
"So, this is more important than finding a Real Conservative candidate that can get this country back on track?"
A "real conservative" among the living breathing choices we have now isn't going to get the country on any kind of track because he's not going to win. It's easy to say "we need a conservative candidate who can win." I heartily agree. But saying that doesn't change the fact that candidates like Duncan Hunter and Newt Gingrich constitute the weakest lineup of conservative candidates in my lifetime. Don't get me wrong- they are good conservatives. But you win elections by persuading the 10% of swing voters and neither Hunter nor Gingrich will do that.
This is a tough time for any conservative to win a battleground state- Santorum was a GREAT conservative Senator and he got crushed by a poor candidate in a battleground state. That's the reality of the political situation now.
We've been handed a candidate in Rudy with extraordinary leadership ability in the WOT who can win. And he promises to appoint judges like Scalia if elected. That's a package I can support.
All the Rudy bashing seems to stem from the fact that he's not for outlawing abortion. We've had a Republican pro-lifer in the White House for six years and a Repbulican House all that time, as well. Abortion is still legal. Even if Roe v. Wade is overturned in the courts, there are still going to be plenty of states who will continue to keep it legal.
Personally, I hope Roe v. Wade is overturned so that it can stop being a national issue every GD election. It's time to return the power of self-determination to the states as the founding fathers intended. But, it's also time we stop voting for or against someone on one issue.
Is Condi interested as running for VP? (to netralize Obama or Richarson)
"In fact, PA was a BLUE STATE and went for KERRY."
PA is just the kind of state that Rudy will put into play for us.
