WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush's decision to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.
The vote on the nonbinding measure was 246-182.
Resolution criticized President Bush for his decision to send more troops to Iraq is a rare admonishment of a wartime commander-in-chief.
"The passage of this legislation signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote when she endorsed the measure that takes issue with Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 U.S. troops into battle.

That's why we all need to pray that these traitors don't GET their way.
We cannot let this happen again. EVER!
Have you ever heard of a congressional finding of rebuke?
What the congress did was not only harmful to the nation but was unprecedented at a time when our troops are engaged in combat. So if the congress can get away with rebuking the president, the president can issue an executive order rebuking those congressmen who voted to demoralize our troops.
If congress is going to invent new games, then the rules for one side should also apply to the other.
The dems and their allies are despicable. They stink to high heaven. Their brash self centered egotism knows no bounds.
They are willing to undermine our heroes to score political points FGS!
The first step in cutting off funds.
The first step in abandoning the troops.
This will be seen by the mullas as weakness, therefore it is the first step toward sitting in motion another major attack in the continental U.S.
All this was made possible by the American voters on November 7, 2006. They should be happy. I hope that they are.
I'm not, but, I voted the other way.
A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one! - Alexander Hamilton
They are too smart to do that. They will sneak it in the back door.
But remember these people wereted by the American voters.
I don't know why you're always so damn eager to defend Lindsey. I was perfectly aware of what his position on the resolution was. He is *my* senator, not yours.
quite simply Paul is willing to sacrifice this nation's security on the altar of his ideology. He even joins the blame America crowd when discussing 9-11 ...yes that bunch.
He doesn't get it on the islamic insurgence...and could care less for the morale of our troops.
What about Hillary and chuckie? I didn't see them there but I could just have missed them.
WHOOPS. This is the HOUSE not the SENATE. I need a drink.
That's the problem. There rarely is an opponent of an incumbent, and when there is they are not supported by the RNC.
I am really ticked off at Walsh. I've voted for him every time he's run. I hope they find a real conservative (in Syracuse???) to run against him next time. No MO!
This is what George gets for being nice to Nancy,a kick in the teeth.
Love your tagline.
While you're at it, how about a People's Rebuke of Congress?

Ron Paul is a LIBERTARIAN who ran as a Republican in order to get elected. The Libertarians I know are against the war.
Thanks, Faith. It's something I need to remember from time to time, especially NOW when I want to lay hands on some of these folks--around their grimy little necks, of course (smile). Mxxx
