Time to make everyone in SEC country mad at me.
Boise St. 2007 Football Bowl Subdivision National Champions.
Here is some logic for you.
Florida lost to Auburn
Auburn lost to Arkansas
Arkansas lost to USC
USC lost to Oregon State
Oregon State lost to Boise State
Who did Boise State lose to this season? NOBODY !!
Save the argument about strength of schedule and "didn't play nobody". How many SEC teams play non-conference road games? Think any SEC teams would play Boise State (or any other non-BCS team) home and home?
Time to "stir the pot" this morning.
If Florida had squeaked out an ugly one last night, I might agree with you. The fact is, however, they won convincingly over the undisputed, undefeated No. 1 team. Florida is No. 1.
Anybody rather than any Florida team.
I'm an OU grad, a forever Sooner fan, but I gotta give it to Boise St; they've got the stuff it takes to be a champion.
One brave soul gave Boise State a number one vote in the final AP poll. Good on em!
Boise State will have to play Grand Valley State, they had a better record if record is what we are going on.
It just bothers me that a team can go perfect and that is not enough. What we have is a de-facto split in 1-A (n.k.a. FBS) where only teams from six of the eleven conference (plus ND) are even eligible.
The BCS is B.S., IMHO
SEC teams don't need to play non-conference road games to prove themselves. Non-conference games matter for teams in conferences which suck.
To prove themselves, SEC teams play conference games.
For what it's worth:
AP Poll:
1 Florida
2 Ohio St.
3 LSU
4 Southern Cal.
5 Boise St.
I understand Boise did get 1 first place vote, the rest going to Florida.
The coaches' poll put BSU 6th.
I like Boise State so much this year that if they had played OSU, I would have rooted for the Broncos and I bleed scarlet and gray.
undisputed according to who? that's the whole problem.
Mad? What you say means nothing. UF had the hardest schedule in the country and they beat what was called "the best college team in history, lol". GATORS GOT THE RINGS AND THE TITLE!!!!!!!!!! GO GATORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will go one better than that -- have Boise State play Grand Valley State, and only allow Boise State to use 36 scholarship players (the remainder must be walk-ons or non-scholarship). I assume the D-II limit is 36.
Funny how we don't have conversations like this after the NCAA basketball tournament.
Florida lost to Auburn
Auburn lost to Arkansas
Arkansas lost to USC
USC lost to Oregon State
Oregon State lost to Boise State
so in theory boise state would have gone undefeated in the sec this year.
Top 8 play off.
Wisconsin. Number 2.
Wisconsin beat both Ark and Auburn, but lost a tough one to Mi.
Did BSU play any of those teams during their regular season?
I know the bowl games make millions for the schools, but I have to believe that the NCAA is leaving millions more on the table by not going to a playoff system in Division I. Sooner or later, it's going to happen. And I think a playoff system could be devised using the bowl games. I've seen several different scenarios over the years.
SEC don't play non-conference road games for one reason -- M-O-N-E-Y !!! Many of these teams have 85,000+ seat stadiums and need every dollar they generate to pay their coaches. I
Exactly. The answer is a Div I playoff system that incorporates all teams and conferences. I'm so sick of the media, including the sports media, and they as much as the BCS conferences are holding the current non-system in place. Nobody here who truly loves football should ever be against a playoff system.
