Top Democrats in Congress left a White House meeting with President Bush on Friday frustrated over what they perceived as his reluctance to embrace major recommendations from the bipartisan Iraq Study Group.
"I just didn't feel there today, the president in his words or his demeanor, that he is going to do anything right away to change things drastically," Senate Majority Leader-elect Harry Reid, D-Nev., said following the Oval Office meeting. "He is tepid in what he talks about doing. Someone has to get the message to this man that there have to be significant changes."
Bush has been cool to some of the report's main recommendations. He's said he won't deal with Iran until it verifiably suspends its nuclear enrichment program and won't sit down with Syria until it stays out of Lebanon's political affairs and prevents the flow of weapons and cash to insurgents in Iraq.
And Bush has stressed many times that U.S. troops will stay in Iraq until they successfully complete their mission.

The arrogance of the Democrats is only exceeded by their hatred for America and freedom.
Dear Senator Reid which of the recommendations should we institute?
Thanks for the good news Harry .. I feel much better knowing he upsets you
President Bush was elected by the people of the United States to serve as the Commander in Chief, not Reid, and certainly no "study group."
I wish that was true.
But unfortunately, the phrase "Stay The Course" is not interpreted, "We will bring our soldiers home as soon as we finish the job."
Someone has got to get a message to Reid that he doesn't sit behind the desk in the oval office.
This ignorant punk Reid is pissed off because the president won't roll over and play dead.
If Dingy Harry was talking about parking a smart bomb on presidential palaces in Damascus and/or Tehran, I'd be right there with him.
But I suspect Dingy Harry is talking about a politically acceptable way to cut and run so we can fight the War on Islamofacism closer to home. Do we need another 9-11 to remember who the real enemy is?
It's your ball now libs. Cut the troop funding if you don't like things.
"Consider this, the ISG on page 54 recommends (12) that, "Syria can establish hotlines to exchange information with the Iraqis." I did not make that up. 1-800-JOKES ON U is my nomination for the hotline number. Maybe the Arabic letters are different on the phones over there (Im not sure). But I am sure that whoever gets hired to man the phone center for the "tip line" should bring his Gameboy to work because there wont be anything to do there."
There may well be significant changes... but not until January 20, 2009.
LOL! Harry is such a twit!
(btw, I'm still waiting for apologies from the FR naysayers who were saying he would fold on Iraq..... Will any be forthcoming?? Yeah.....right!)
He is tepid in what he talks about doing
I believe it was said about Lincoln he was either firmly weak in his support of any given legislation or weakly firm.
I guess that the only recommendation I would agree with is we need more boots on the ground.
Well obviously, we should immediately meet with Iran, Syria and the Palestinians and offer to give away Israel. In return, we expect them not to shoot us in the ass as we redeploy to Okinawa. Also we're trusting them not ever to claim they won. We will be soooo mad at you guys if you do!
Its not a good idea to plan your future from advise from a nursing home.
He has been talking about making necessary adjustments dependent on the situation on the ground from the beginning.
"Stay the course" is a catch phrase for uninformed people, left and right, who don't pay any attention to what the Commander in Chief is actually saying.
I always understood "Stay the course" to mean onto victory
But hey, whadda I know
THE ISG IS AN ATTEMPTED COUP.
It appears the coup has failed and Reid and Pelosi are very disappointed.
It seems the elitists are upset their worldview is not being obeyed. (you will obey my Authooooreeeh teeeee!!!)
I REALLY HOPE GWBUSH SAYS "SURRENDER IS NOT AN OPTION." in his upcomming speech. If he says that word for word, it turns the cut and run democrats into surrender monkeys.
Reid to Bush: Why aren't you putting us at the mercy of Iran and Syria and begging them not to hurt us?
