John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions
johnkerry.com ^

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

Tony Snow is going to hand John Kerry his head. Oh he will be very pleasant about it, but that is coming.

If he was implying then who is the stupid one? And now he's not even smart enough to apologize for saying something stupid, but instead blame someone else for not divining what he was "implying"

This is typical liberalism at it's finest. It also is more proof the liberalism is just a mild form of mental retardation.

With Kerry, its always someone else's fault. But, those are HIS words, and he keeps saying the same thing in different ways, over and over again. Do we get it yet? Kerry is the Democrat Party. And he will be in leadership next week if good men do nothing. The only votes that count, are those cast.

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

It could have been a poorly worded attack on Bush's intelligence. In other words, "we're stuck in Iraq because Bush is dumb."

Just when I think this despicable excuse for a human being can't stoop any lower, he does.

Yes, I don't know how he or anyone like him can live with themselves. He will be judged one day.

Is it just me....or isn't this "response" JUST as offensive as the remarks he made??

It's not just you.

Not only is there NO acknowledgement of what are troops are doing, this thing reads like a drunken Will Pitt rant lifted straight off DU. And this guy is a freaking United States senator, and came within 120,000 votes in Ohio of sitting in the White House!

I think what he was implying was Bush was not smart and ended up in Iraq.

You may be right. However, two things:

1. Kerry had worse grades in college than Bush so what does that say about Kerry.

2. It doesn't matter if that is what he meant because the story is off and running. Not good for the Dems with seven days to go.

This moron makes an abundantly clear statement insulting the intelligence of our military, then attempts to turn the entire event around as if he is a victim.

Kerry's maturity level is shocking.

Here's betting that the average education of the troops in Iraq is HIGHER than the average education of the nation.

I'm willing to gamble that it's higher than the average education on most American community college campuses.

I predict he will resign from office after a lengthy stay in a rest facility for the nervous breakdown he is obviously going through.

the alternative is to admit that he is a Heroin/LSD/Crystal Meth/Crack addict and claim that he has been high on all of those all the time for the lat 35 years. If he claims that and checks into rehab he might be able to keep his seat. Certainly the Dhimmicrats will never discipline him for this insane rant.

The "man" is a disgrace.
