The most, least dangerous U.S. cities

A list of the safest and most dangerous cities overall, as compiled by Morgan Quitno Press, which bases the rankings on FBI figures released in June. The list starts with the safest cities and ends with the most dangerous.

Only cities that reported crime rates were included in the list. For example, New Orleans was not included this year because its police department did not report figures.

From what I could see, Chattanooga's bad area seem to be west and southwest of Missionary Ridge.

Pretty much spot on. That is the area of the public housing projects.

The downtown area is really pretty nice. Back in the late '70s I started coming to Chattanooga from Atlanta to hang glide. Back then, Chattanooga was a dirty little mill town. The transformation of the riverfront started in the mid '80's and continues to this day. Now, it is one of the top tourist destinations in the SE.

Michigan has 2 two cities that rank 2nd and 3rd most dangerous in a liberal democratic controlled State!

How many of these dangerous cities are liberally controlled?

If there is any evidence and proof that liberal-progressive democratic policies are a failure, just look at all of the cities controlled by the democrats that are crime ridden and dangerous to live in and do business in.

Tell me again liberal democrats about how we don't have a plan for the peace in Iraq, while you cannot even control the crime and dangers in their own cities!

I had a group of gang-banger types in my store one day. They were looking at a case of miniatures.

One of them asked what they were.

I told them that they were miniature replicas of famous buildings.

TO be completely accurate, those would be the most dangerous cities with a large population (over 500,000 or whatever it was).

There is also a ranking for most dangerous small cities.

Watching The Wire I can't believe how bad that town is. Especially when in the behind the scenes interviews the creator talks about how much of it comes from stuff he either saw or was told about by police officers. Makes me glad to live in a small Oklahoma town.

Phoenix is inundated with graffiti, shootings, roadrage, rapes, school lockdowns, etc.

Biggest problem the police department here has, besides the politicians, is the recent incorporation of the transit police into their ranks.

A Virginia couple stopped to ask directions, and ended up arrested by a transitory cop with an attitude. In Spider Robinson's phrase, not enough brains to keep her ears apart.

They wanted to leave town, and she probably didn't know how.

Fairbanks used to be on the list, #4, but the City Fathers got it removed from the list altogether on a technicality, bad for tourism. BTW, one of last week's murder victims was identified this weekend. There is a problem with the fingerprints of the second victim.
