This article is very heavily excerpted and the article itself is a very good read and well worth the time to follow the link.
How about pinging him?
shelving legislation to ban forced marriagesThis is the most incredible thing to me. Can you imagine if the Church of England, or any other Christian Church, gave the slightest hint of criticism of women in the workplace? Can you imagine if even one priest made one remark about a woman's place being in the home? Can you imagine the outcry from the self-proclaimed "feminists" of England?
But actual slavery, on British soil, slavery of women, large numbers of women, officially sanctioned slavery, lifetime servitude to whatever bearded, bathless cretin the poor woman's father feels like selling her to... well, I guess when it comes to that, the "feminists" are off doing other things. Too busy to talk about that. Suddenly they're all soccer moms, or something, and don't really have much time for politics.
There is nothing lower on the planet than a leftist. A nematode worm walks tall compared to the average cringing leftist coward who sells out his/her country in the morning and his/her "core beliefs" in the middle of the afternoon. What disgusting slime they are.
Ping to snugs too! (Snugs, I "know" you from the Sunday Morning Talk Show threads, which I read but seldom post to -- can you comment on this thread?)
Does the US have specific legislation against forced marriages? I couldn't find anything.
Good point
Terrorism affects my daily life so the WOT issue to me is easy to comment on because in public areas even locally security is tighter etc etc. So you are aware more of the threat to you and your country/culture.
This one though in some respects linked I have very little personal experience of. I work in a company which does not have one non white employee and the only day to day contact with a none white is our local Pharmacy even my doctor is white which is unusual.
On the other hand my dad's best friend who lives in South East London has the opposite situation and often feels intimidated.
So I realise there is a problem especially in the inner cities and suburbs but it does not affect me day to day.
I have also noticed that even in my area there is a growing Englishness. A lot of people put up St George flags for the soccer world cup most came down but there are few that are still flying (flag displaying is unusual in ordinary British/English homes only very large posh one do it and then not many). We even still have one at work draped over one of the barriers of our mezzanine area in the stores.
I think this is why Jack Straw spoke out; even if he is not prepared to say so has obviously got feed back from his constituency white members regarding their feelings about our culture being under threat.
Also when people spout about multiculturalism most of them have no idea what the original meaning of it was and go for the soft modern meaning of acceptance for all.
Sorry I cannot comment more but I have very little first hand knowledge and daily impact on my life. I am still free to do and say and wear what I wish within reason or modesty allows.
A house locally that always has an English flag in the window I think I can remember it for over 5 years now
Flag at work
A good sign? ;-)
Hope the English keep that feedback coming -- enough to overwhelm the Muslim feedback!
William the Conquerer who built the thing would not approve, I think.
Marriage laws are determined by the states, but I believe coercion is grounds for an annulment in all of them.
Thanks for the post and the photos.
Not a problem! How many Christians (or Jews, Hindus, etc.) are employed in Saudi palaces? Just a rough estimate . . .
I've been reading too many articles written from the British perspective. "Asian" to me really menas oriental, and I don't mean that. Swap out "Islamofascist" with "Asian and it will make more sense.
Coffee...need coffee...
"A Moslem prayer room in the world's oldest inhabited castle???
William the Conquerer who built the thing would not approve, I think."
I don't think he built the gift shop though.
The 'prayer room' is an empty office that one of the employees was given permission to use for religious purposes during her break time. No big deal.
Yes there are. In fact most of our junior schools are Church of England funded and we also have state Catholic Schools.
Exactly imagine the fall out if permission had not been granted.
Yes Asian has a different connotation in Britain than it does elsewhere.
When we say Asian we mainly mean muslim Asian. We tend to use far east for the other orientals.
