If Terri is up to it, more power to her. I might watch the interview as well even if I have to cringe every time BaBa utters a word.

Oh, I wish it was anyone other than Walters. She's so very insincere and artificial, the aussies will see straight through her...

I feel so terribly bad that she has lost her absolute soulmate. She will never be able to fill the void she will now have for the rest of her life.

Anytime you lose someone so important to you, its a whole different world. But losing someone who rolls through life like a tornado, or a tasmanian devil, leaves an even quieter and sadder world. It's going to be incredibly tough on her.

While there could be pressure to give an interview, it is still voluntary.

I doesn't matter who does it. Just that she gets to say her peace and it will help her in her grieving process. I know speaking out helped me in my time of grieving.

Thank you So Very Much for the Ping, mom4kittys! (And Thank you for the Post, Aussie Dasher!) I Watch Very Little TV, but Look Forward to Seeing this Interview.

God Bless the Irwins, and Comfort them with His Grace.

Terri has been out of the US and mainly in Australia for 15 of 16 years. She may have forgotten the controversies that follow Baba wherever she goes. But I'd think her folks and friends would be advising her not to deal with the queen of painful interviews. I so want to hear that Terri is recovering (if that's the proper word) from the immense hurt she has endured but I don't see how Walters can possibly have any part in bringing that about. It seems like a total mistake. I'd hate to think Terri is getting pressured to speak in order to appease curiosity. That would be most unfortunate and I too can't help but think that will be what Baba will play to. I hate her tactics.

We know you all to well Barbara and we don't like you. Leave Terri alone. Surly there is someone better to talk to than that snake when YOU ARE READY Terri. It's not up to you to make us feel better.

That was very well put...couldn't have said it better myself.

In fact, my first thought when I read the article was what the date was she was going to interview her...to see if it was during a "sweeps" month...THAT is how much respect I have for BABA.

I don't understand why Terri is doing this. She has been too broken up to speak about Steve anywhere. I am afraid she will break down on TV, and I don't know how healing that will be. I hope she wasn't talked into it by Stainton. I don't like him as well as Wess and am wondering if he is trying to take control of things in Steve's place.

I don't think John would do that. (I HOPE not anyway) He loved Steve and his family. Steve surrounded himself with wonderful people, so it seemed. I think Terri knows she has to address the public sooner or later. She has to know that everyone wants to hear from her. He may just be giving her options on how to go about doing it.
Thank goodness Terri has Wes, Brian and the whole Australia Zoo crew that is like a family and she can count on to help her keep it the way it needs to be kept.

Thanks for the ping.

I won't comment on the date, interviewer, etc because if Terri feels it's ok to do this that's good enough for me. Doesn't need to be politicized and picked apart.

Thanks for the ping.

I hope Terri is up to this. I'm really concerned about her. Even more since the memorial. I can still see that look of devastation on her face, even with the sunglasses.

I know she will protect Bindi with a passion. If BaBa WaWa steps over the line, I know that interview will end. And the sound of regret will be heard throughout the land.

I just hope Terri's ready. God bless her.

I don't have any problem with this.

Most people who lose loved ones go through a period of time when they want to talk about it incessantly and seek out new audiences to tell their story. Because Steve and Terri were public people it makes sense to do this with as many outlets as ask.

As much as I dislike Walters on The View (blech, hack, spit), her interviews with individuals are usually low key and reasonably gentle. So this seems appropriate as long as Terri wants to do it.

There will come a time, after the need to talk is gone, when she will want everyone to go away and leave her alone. My guess is that will be respected as well.

Thanks for the ping!

I saw the announcement when Barbara made it on the View. Right off the bat, I had such a bad feeling about Barbara doing this because of the way she worded it. Her words were, "I'm going to go to Brisbane, Australia, to do an interview with Terri Irwin and with their little girl, Bindi...The little boy is too young," Walters announced today.

It was the *way* she said it that made me think, "Ick!"

It's well-known because Barbara has stated herself that she doesn't like other people's children, for starters. Secondly, Barbara has enough of a generation gap with young children and babies that I always feel uncomfortable watching her trying to interview them. To me, she has a knack for saying the oddest things to children -- like Martha Stewart does. Neither can even relate to children and I've seen both make reference to children being brats. (Martha more than Babs, but anyway...)

I think that what this has to do with is that most likely Barbara jumped on the horn to her people to phone Stainton or Animal Planet saying that Babs would donate some huge dollar amount to Steve's charities if she were granted the first interview...*knowing* that Terri wouldn't want to turn down that amount of money if it was going to help Steve's mission.

Some of the Australian press has been reporting the tackiness of ABC for doing this so soon, but by the time the press had word of it, the contracts were probably signed.

I promise that if Barbara does or says anything out of line to either Terri or Bindi, I will boycott her to her end.

If hundreds of millions of people the world over are grieving Steve's passing, it is not even possible to imagine or measure the pain that the Irwins are feeling. It just can't be understood.
