Repubs have nothing in 08. Some one good, a real conservative, needs to step up. If he ends up being the nominee, I'll have to hold my nose. What choice do I have Gore, Hillary??

Sorry.

For Social/Cultural/Moral Conservative voters like myself, Giuliani means at least a temporary divorce from the GOP.

Plain and simple, I will not support Rudy for President or give my time, effort, or vote to a party that nominates someone this liberal for their highest office. A Pro-War Hillary running under the GOP banner is still unacceptable.

If Rudy is the best the party has to offer, then good riddance. Spend the next decade trying to out-liberal the Democrats on social issues as well as the fiscal issues on which you currently try to out-liberal them.

I won't stick around to help it happen.

Give up the Rudy crap. Find someone at least 1.5% Conservative to put on the ballot already.

Nice, this is the same rudy giuliani who said that ruling out tax increases was political pandering. The same rudy giuliani who borrowed his way out of a deficit and passed it on to bloomberg. Last i recall even after he left new york taxes were still very close to the highest in the nation.

This is just flat out wrong, rudy added over 20k city employees to the rosters including 10k+ teachers.

Rudy: Gingrich-style government reformer Conservatives who liked Newt’s welfare reform and GWB’s attempt at entitlement reform have an ally in Rudy. As mayor, Giuliani reformed welfare in New York with the same tenacity as the class of ‘94 in Congress.

This is such a joke i can't stop laughing. THis is the same rudy who tried to sue and overturn welfare reform signed by clinton.

About that best that can be said for Rudy is that he has a "R" next ot his name.

His stance on gun control, borders, scope of government power, and social programs disqualifies him in my not so humble opinion.

We’ve yet to get definitive statements from Rudy regarding abortion or the Second Amendment in the last few years. While Rudy opponents trot out statements from the 1990s or even the 1980s on those issues, let’s wait and see where Rudy stands in 2006 before passing any judgment. Mayor Giuliani might just surprise pro-life, pro-Second Amendment conservatives with his interpretation of how the president, and not the mayor of the most liberal city in the country, should handle these hot-button cultural issues.

A guy who doesn't, now or twenty years ago, understand the plain meaning of "right of the people" and "shall not be infringed", wouldn't understand strict construction if it bit him in the buttocks.

Mayor or President the meaning of the Constitution doesn't change. There's these other little pieces of the Constitution too:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution;

and

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;

Oh and this little snippet from New York State law:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms cannot be infringed."
Article 2, Section 4 of the New York Civil Rights Law

If Rudy is to win the nomination, and the election, he is going to have to forcefully renounce his liberal past.
"Forcfully": David Horowitz would be a good example for him to follow.

He's got a year yet to convince us he's changed, so his 'friends' should cut the baloney and tell him get to it.

Favored School reform not because he's conservative, but because he wanted more control over the bureaucracy of the Board of Ed.Took the credit for Bratton's theory of policing. then ran Bratton out of town when Bratton got favorable ink. Gave us Bernie Kerik.

I've lived in New York all my life, and I won't vote for him.

Since most politicians change their views over time and especially when they are thinking of running for the Presidential office, I am curious where he stands on the issues today. Everything I read that is negative, stems from the past.

All said and done, this guy is one hell of a leader.

Yeah. Conservatives don't vote for liberals.

Giuliani's liberal northeast politics will not play well with conservative Republicans in flyover country. Voters in the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary will not vote for Rudy. Giulinai`s liberalism will not play well with religious and social conservatives. Rudy is pro-abortion, pro-partial birth abortion, pro-gun control Republican who supports special rights for homos and illegal aliens. Giuliani also left behind a $2-billion deficit and a $42-billion debt after ending his reign as mayor of NYCity.

No thanks.

Welcome to FR? Rudy may be one of the Moderate Republicans (RINOs) who's had a conservative epiphany on 9-11 and is now more conservative than many give him credit for... maybe.

Rudy with a strong conservative running mate would be a good choice, or maybe with Tommy Franks for the GWOT "gravitas."

I notice your linked website has McCain listed as "first." BAH!

I can think of more reasons I don't want Rudi to be the nominee than I can think of reasons that I do. But a couple of things stand out about him. He is cool under fire. He believes in Ronald Reagan's 11th Commandment: Speak no evil of a fellow Republican. Can we say that about McCain? As for his liberal social positions, while you are holding your nose in the voting booth, ask yourself if you would rather have Rudi or ANY Democrat?

He has/is spending plenty of time in the South so he can get enough southern votes to supplement the Northeastern and Rust Belt nomination votes that he is very likely to get. Throw in a few from the West and he is the nominee. The biggest danger is conservatives split from the Party and Shrillary is elected. God forbid.

Rudy is in the running, but I would like to get a good look at any others that may be running as well.

Rudy is a hero from New York and not a perfect human being.
I don't have a lot of love from socially liberal leaning Republicans.
