CAIRO, Egypt — Al Qaeda's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri issued a new videotape Saturday along with a man identified as an American member of the terror network, inviting Americans to convert to Islam.
The 41-minute video, posted on an Islamic militant Web site nine days before the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, had footage of al-Zawahri and a man the video identified as Adam Yehiye Gadahn, an American who the FBI believes attended Al Qaeda training camps in Pakistan and served as an Al Qaeda translator.
Gadahn and al-Zawahiri did not appear together in the footage but were each featured on a split screen. Both wore white turbans and robes.
Yes, an attack is likely imminent; who is it going to be? Perhaps a friend or loved one; maybe you or me? When are we going to do something. I do not want to convert and I do not think anyone here is on board for facing Mecca five times a day. A line has been drawn in our collective minds and soon it will be crossed. Are we ready? Reading what you mentioned about Iowa I'm sitting here asking myself right out loud- Where did my country go? I remember when Cassius Clay changed his name. I remember when Lou Alcindor changed his name. I even have a vivid memory of watching the Saudis converge on Beverly Hills, but suddenly they're EVERYWHERE! I want my country back. I no longer care if I sound like an Islamophobe. Tough cookies.
Polls leading up to the election had it being a close race with a slight edge to the party in office. Shortly after the incident, the admin began suggesting that this was not Islamic terrorism, but it quickly became clear they were talking out of their arse. A small percentage got skittish and it ended up being a close election with the slight edge going to the opposition party.
It does appear that when the race was so close, a little skittishness and a shift of a relatively small part of the electorate shifted the election. Same thing could happen here, of course, but it's inaccurate to say that nobody thought Zapotero had any chance of winning. It was close in the polls and a close election.

I won't list them Howlin, but I can think of thousands of easy high populated soft targets.
There is a good possibility with all the oil money that several nukes could be in the hands of terrorists.

I was thinking the same thing recently. Before 9/11, I didn't squat about Islam except for Cassius Clay.
I had one Muslim co-worker I didn't think much about til later. She had a lot of children who begat lots of grandchildren. She's in the process of starting an Islamic school. Her husband is 2nd in charge of one of the largests ports in the U.S./world. He is now an Iman at a mosque in that city. They travel frequently to the ME and there's lots of information about them on various websites. Now, I think about her quite a bit...how many more are there like them?

As anticipated in Andrew Cochran's previous posting, Al Qaeda released a new video today of Al Qaeda Deputy Leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and American Al Qaeda Islamic convert Adam Gadahn (aka "Azzam the American").
The new video by Al Qaeda's production wing As-Sahab features Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri and "Azzam the American" is entitled "Invitation to Islam" has been released today on various Arabic language message boards. Laura Mansfield's Strategic Translations web site has the video for download.
Gadahn and al-Zawahiri did not appear together in the footage but were each featured on a split screen. Both wore white turbans and robes. "To the American people and the people of the West in general... God sent his Prophet Muhammad with guidance and the religion of truth... and sent him as a herald," al-Zawahiri said in an introduction to Saturday's video.
Gadahn spoke with his face uncovered, resembling FBI photos, with his name and Jihadist name "Azzam the American" written in titles in Arabic and English next to him. Gadahn is a 28-year old Islamic convert from California who is wanted by the FBI in connection with possible terror threats against the USA.
Gadahn indicated that he wants to change the image that Americans have of Islam "We invite all Americans and unbelievers to Islam," Gadahn said, sporting a long, thick black beard with a computer terminal in the background.
Gadahn described the West as "the civilization which enslaved Africa, slaughtered native Americans, fired bombs at... Tokyo and (the Iraqi city of) Fallujah and nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki."
Gadahn said America shows more concern for archaeological sites, like statues of Bhudda destroyed by Afghanistan's former Taliban rulers, "than it shows of the people of Afghanistan and Iraq."
Gadahn previously appeared in a video with al-Zawahiri in a July 7 video commemorating the anniversary of London tube bombings in which he stated that no sane Muslim should shed tears for them. Gadahn is believed to be a masked figure who appeared in two previous videos not officially from Al Qaeda, given to ABC News in Pakistan in 2004 and a few days before Sept. 11, 2005." -snip-

Hi, deffie. I'm reading through this thread on the new nutcase tape, but I just heard Kondracke say that Fitzgerald did tell Armitage to shut up about being the one who revealed the Wilson/Plame connection and that she worked at the CIA. You were right about that. I don't know if it had the force of law, but apparently it did happen.
