I was thinking the same thing recently. Before 9/11, I didn't squat about Islam except for Cassius Clay.
I had one Muslim co-worker I didn't think much about til later. She had a lot of children who begat lots of grandchildren. She's in the process of starting an Islamic school. Her husband is 2nd in charge of one of the largests ports in the U.S./world. He is now an Iman at a mosque in that city. They travel frequently to the ME and there's lots of information about them on various websites. Now, I think about her quite a bit...how many more are there like them?
I remember you telling me about her. Like you, prior to 9-11 I could have given a squat about Islam. Let peeps worship what they want. That's the American way. But I don't feel that way any more. I'll never feel that way again. And I really wish it wasn't so.
You hit on one reason that America won't be like it used to...kids.
Muslims tend to have a LOT of children,...Americans are down to about 1 each...so, even if there was never another terrorist attack here...just by attrition this will become a Muslim or maybe Latino country.
