You probably won't be surprised by my toaster request, Snugs, but I want the Tease-in-Chief denim shirt photo.

I've been waiting forever to see this on a toaster.

Tom, do you have a wood-burner stove? I have to go buy something to store logs on outdoors. Any suggestions as to what kind I should get?

***I love W and his speech today was just excellent. Thank God he is our President at this time in history. ***

I heard excerpts of that speech today on Rush. Dubya's voice as never so clear, so strong, so stirring. It was a just plain stand-up-and-cheer for the speaker speech.

When you live in a large metropolitan center with good public transportation, you can get along without a car and save a bundle of money. I did that for years.

Yes, I just learned to drive. We all have our weirdnesses; driving was mine. I felt safer on a bus or in a cab w/someone who knew what they were doing. I also felt there was a lot going on - there are days when I can hardly cross the street on a green light; I didn't know how I would fare driving a car.

When I was a teen, my parents wouldn't let me learn to drive. Living in cities, I never really needed a car, so there was no push for me to learn. And with the internet, I get a lot of stuff, including groceries, delivered to the door. Still don't *need* a car. However, now that I'm going to Iowa, I figured I might need to drive.

No idea, unfortunately. It's one of those where I saw it somewhere and thought it was cute, so I nabbed it for my collection.

Thanks for posting the video link.

I caught the second half of it during the 5pm PacTime showing but set the VCR for later.

Hi snugs - and thanks, as ever, for your faithfulness.

I just got an Email from a friend in Washington (Olympic Peninsula) whose apartment building (for disabled people; she has MS) burned down last night. She's all right but the building has to be torn down and rebuilt, and one woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, in serious condition. Housing has been made available for all the tenants.

Things like this really make me count my blessings.

I have shopped for a wood burner stove. They are more expensive than they could be. So I am in the process of building my own. But I have lots of scrap iron and a welding machine. What do you mean "store logs on outdoors"? You just shake the snow off and bring a batch at a time inside and let it dry or cove with a tarp.

Wow! You're becoming a real "Southern" cook, snugs. Next thing we know you will be smuggling grits into England. Black-eyed peas and Hog Jowl (pig jaws) are "the" food required on New Year's Day for good luck among people of the South (Ala.Tenn.Ga. Miss.). Cornbread making is an art and not everyone can do it justice (including myself). The secret is lots of shortening both during cooking and afterward (lots of butter). Otherwise you get dry cornbread and that's not good. Also, the mix I sent may not have been such a good one. It's best to make it from scratch, as it is with everything one cooks.

I haven't been eating much of anything lately. Mostly snacking. I still enjoy the hard candy you sent, and the licorise. candy. I still have the Scotch Broth and one of the puddings. Also working slowly on the Orange Marmalade. I've tried to stretch everything so I have longer to enjoy them and think of you so often.
