As some of you know, I just got back from my first-ever vacation. Being the law and politics guru I am, I chose DC.
I flew into Reagan and got settled at the Hotel Rouge (great place by the way and very nice staff) late on Thursday afternoon. I wanted to get a little sightseeing done, even though everything was about to close, so I quickly shoved half a can of Pringles into my mouth, washed it down with a Nantucket Nectar OJ, grabbed a map, and headed down Sixteenth Street.
Sixteenth Street ends at Lafayette Park, so the first two things I saw, aptly enough, were Dubya's most likely haunts, the White House and St. John's, which we see so often on Sunday Doses.
I also walked a ways down 15th St. and saw the Washington Monument. My brother called just as I was ready to snap a shot of it to ask if I had seen it yet. I said, "Yeah, I'm standing in front of it!"
I also got some great photos of the World War II Memorial.
In this one, you can see the Lincoln Memorial in the background.
