LONDON - An Aer Lingus flight from New York with 239 passengers aboard was evacuated in Ireland Friday following a threat against the aircraft, airport authorities said.
Aer Lingus Flight 112 was evacuated during a scheduled stop at 2:50 a.m. EDT at Shannon airport in western Ireland, said airport spokesman Eugene Pratt. The plane was en route to Dublin.
The threat "came to a police station in Dublin, and referred to some explosives aboard that specific flight," Pratt said. No trace of explosives was found in the initial search.

Who needs explosives or people willing to commit suicide??
Terrorists can now disrupt society with a simple phone call.
Who's really winning this war??
Air Lingus? CUNNING.
Since I can recall a period of time a few years back when I went days before seeing contrails in the sky, I'd say we are. We're still flying. Screw the inconvenience.
What about Aer Lingus? It apparently is Air Fleet.
And your plan to resolve this?
We are. Minor inconveniences, but no major disruptions. Can you imagine if the Britain bomb plot had succeeded...then we'd return to post 9/11 days and empty airports.
My hubby and son just returned from a 10 day trip to Canada. They flew from Florida to Texas to Calgary, had to go through customs and security more than a couple times, but they said the attitude of passengers was upbeat and the planes were full.
We're definitely winning.
P.S. If, and I say if because I think the calls are made by pranksters instead of terrorists, but if the disruptions are caused by terrorists, they can't consider themselves successful because they delay a flight for a few hours.
We had bomb scares in school, but that didn't mean the druggy loser crowd won out.
Hopefully islam will fall into the dustbin of history just like the loser kids from high school.
Looks like they've succeeded in disrupting air commerce.
Such a phone call would have had the same effect even if there were no terrorists left on the planet.
Old ploy of the Left -- I was in grad school at Boston University in the 70s (the era of Vietnam and student radicals), and they got as many as a couple of bomb threats a week for a while. (Temping summers, I sometimes worked in an office building that got them.) They certainly didn't get national coverage though; I don't even recall that they got local coverage.
After the first few, the professor/office manager when notified would just make the announcement and tell students/workers they could go outside if they wanted to while the fire department checked the building, but fewer and fewer people bothered.
Gee let me guess - a 60 yr old female Norwegian Lutheran again?
LOL
They must have learned that from the Teamsters....every time the union wants to organize and company employees vote them down, the bomb threats begin on a daily basis.
Named after St. Connie........
No,actually this airline was named for its founder who had been an officer in the Irish Air Force......Colonel Lingus
Ol' Dingus Lingus?.......
