Here is the situation: World leaders are lining up, either on the side of the Islamic terrorists (Chirac and Putin) or the side of their victims (the United States and -- somewhat -- Great Britain). The Vatican, which has an unsavory record in regard to the periodic slaughters of the Jews has thrown its moral weight (such as it is these days) onto the scales against the Jews. As the Hizbollah terrorists fire hundreds of rockets into Israeli cities from Lebanon and the Pope condemns Israel's attempts to destroy the rockets aimed at its citizens, Israel's chief of staff is forced to concede that those rockets can reach farther than previously thought, putting more Israelis in danger. Meanwhile, the Syrian terrorist state tells Time magazine that it could destroy Israel's nuclear sites. Hizbollah, Hamas, Iran and Syria occupy areas that are one hundred times the size of Israel and the populations they control are ten times the size of Israel's. Hizbollah and Hamas, and their patron Iran, have sworn to remove Israel from the face of the earth -- in those very words. Iran has defied the world community in asserting its determination to complete its nuclear program. Syria supports Iran, hosts Hamas and is a party to this malignant Islamic crusade. Behind them stand Russia and China and North Korea, and also apparently the international left which is lining up squarely behind the jihadists -- and has been doing so throughout the open preparation of this second holocaust. The left's favorite apostle Noam Chomsky only months ago was embracing Hizbollah's Hitler, Hassan Nasrallah, and his genocidal agendas.
So here is the issue: If you were Israel's prime minister, could you afford to wait until Iran attains nuclear warheads for Hizbollah's missiles? Or can you be sure it hasn't already been supplied such warheads by Russia or China through Iran? Could you afford to wait to see if Syria will supply the chemical and biological weapons it has cached for Saddam Hussein to Hizbollah and Hamas? Or would you proceed to plan B and obliterate them now?
While the Israeli prime minister ponders this question, leftists who are encouraging the forces of genocide -- Hizbollah, Hamas, Syria and Iran -- might want to think how all the present bloodshed and the next terrible decisions that Israel must take to defend itself -- and their consequences -- will lie on their heads.
Events from Revelations are coming to pass, IMO.
Will this war go nuclear?
If we fail to have this war it will go nuclear.
Yes, because you'd have to be a moonbat to believe that. China, and especially Russia, have a little problem with muslims themselves. They're not going to hand nukes over to the crazy man because they might end up in Chechnya.
No, they play the game where the US does all the heavy lifting, and they do all the profiting.
First of all, many American Jews do not support Israel (Hollywood and the Left to name two general areas), secondly, the Vatican is not anti-Jew nor anti-Israel (I am not Catholic BTW), thirdly, while the Vatican may be saddened by the deaths in Lebanon, they are equally sadden by deaths in Israel (I suggest there has been some selective and biased reportage). Lastly, the Pope isn't going to throw his weight (and it is great indeed in a moral sense...he's a great man) behind any side of a war unless one side is clearly identifiable as "purely evil."
IMHO, of course.
Oh . . . do tell.
. . . has thrown its moral weight (such as it is these days) . . .
Another cheap shot? Wow.
Just wow.
ah ...... do you think the prediction was off by one?
Maybe you ought to read what was actually said. The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Sodano (who is a lame duck anyway), very clearly condemned the violence on both sides. The Vatican is never going to laud war as a solution to anyone's problems, ever. Get used to it.
Reuters' headline writer turned Sodano's remark into a one-sided condemnation of Israel.
What did the Vatican have to do with that. Did the Vatican invade Czechoslovakia or bomb Pearl Harbor?
Truth is this pope and the vatican are clearly against the jews and jewish state.
Truth is, I suspect this pope really doesn't give a flaming sh!t about "jews and the jewish state" one way or another -- and the Vatican probably wouldn't have felt compelled to comment on this issue at all except for the fact that it is a sovereign state in addition to a religious organization and therefore must engage in some diplomatic proprieties every now and then.
I don't know about the war, but I do predict this thread is going to go "nuclear."
Actually I was going to bring this comment up to my Rabbi tomorrow, who has a very good relationship with the local Catholic Priest. The Pope comes down on the right side of the unborn, and it is despicable that he comes down on the wrong side of a civilian population under more or less regular missile attack. He has to hear it long and loud from his own flock that he is darkening the Church by taking the position he has been reported to have assumed.

The scary part is I think Rev 18 and 19 may possibly refer to the US.
israel will never be the one to drop the "first" bomb..they'd do it in retaliation for one being dropped on them..
Response: No.
....well if Tehran and Damascus are stupid enough to suppose that they can just keep marching unhindered toward eventually one day hurling a nuke-tipped missle into downtown Tel Aviv, then it could be argued that they both deserve to get preemptively nuked themselves.....any government THAT naive deserves a little applied 'social Darwinism"
I don't think it was the Pope speaking...and I suspect what was reported might have been refined to obscure its original meaning.
These are fast times and I would urge all to adopt a wait and see attitute toward what is reported...and remember, there is massive Christian support for Israel.
As said previously, I am not Catholic and think there are some Catholic Freepers who follow this matter more closely than I do and I would defer to them regarding the Pope and the Church. That said, I like this Pope.
If Iran had nukes, my answer would have been different.
Is there a better description for Hizbollah, Hamas, and all of fundamental Islam than "purely evil"?
