What Karl Rove Should Tell La Raza
Human Events ^ | 07/10/06 | The Human Events View

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza.

If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks.

La Raza, which means “The Race” in Spanish, has denounced as “horrendous” and “appalling” the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans. The bill, which calls for tough worksite enforcement of immigration laws and 700 miles of border fencing, was condemned by La Raza as a “laundry list of mean-spirited and intrusive provisions concocted by the most radical immigrations restrictionists in Congress.”

Will Rove defend the immigration reforms passed by President Bush’s party in the House and tell La Raza that House Republicans are neither “mean-spirited” nor “radical”? He should. House Republicans deserve Rove’s support.

Yeah but its not reallly Roves's Bill

Rove is President Bush's "Merlin". The bill that came out of the Senate had his fingerprints all over it.

Remember, several years ago Trent Lott had to resign his post as Senate Majority Leader because he spoke in front of the Council of Conservative Citizens. I think that Senator Brownback and Karl Rove should resign their posts for speaking in front of Hispanic racists who are just as racist as the KKK but against anyone who is not bronze or brown . I believe if the voters of Kansas knew that their one of the U.S. Senators was affiliated and spoke to Hispanic racists bent on "reconquista" and unrestricted illegal immigration, they would either fire him or run a primary challenger against him.

Agreed. But La Raza was talking about the house bill - which was not so much a Rove bill

Rove is an embarrassment and insult to our Founding Fathers...I suspect they would have sent him to Britain, or shot him...

Even with over three hours remaining, it's safe to say yours is the "Dumbest Post of the Day."

I thought that you were talking about the Senate bill. I am sorry. There is no doubt, that Karl Rove gave a lot of input in the Senate bill, because basically that what the President wanted. He is probably influencing the House members, like Congressman Pence, to give their versions of Anmesty-lite.

Remember, several years ago Trent Lott had to resign his post as Senate Majority Leader because he spoke in front of the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Trent Lott resigned (mistakenly, IMO) for praising Strom Thurmond at his 100th birthday party in front of some friends, saying that the US would have been better off with Strom in the presidency.

The CCC had nothing to do with it.

Exactly. But, even hinting that Karl Rove should be shot is skating very close to the edge.

Speaking to the CCC years before had nothing to do with his resignation. It was all about Strom, and only about Strom, and about cowardly Republicans who were still angry with Lott over not "getting" Clinton.

He was railroaded, and Bush didn't help matters.

I remember reading that figure but I cannot place it. La Raza has been in the past given subsidies by the Federal government.

It doesn't matter. Right now, the President's chief adviser is getting ready to speaking in front of a racist group tomorrow.
