Outspoken Iraq War protester Cindy Sheehan spoke at the Unitarian Universalist Church last night, asking a crowd of about 250 people to follow her lead and exercise their First Amendment rights by speaking out against President Bush and the war, which she called an illegal occupation.
Sheehan, who famously camped out at Bushs ranch in Crawford, Texas last summer after her son was killed while fighting in Iraq, told listeners that her story is proof that one person can make a difference in the world.
The event was organized by the Peace and Justice Committee of the Unitarian Church.
A lone protester stood on the sidewalk outside the church before the talk began. He identified himself only as Richard, and said he was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps visiting his sons who live on the island. The man held a sign reading Cindy, your actions dishonor your son.
After two verbal confrontations between the man and lecture attendees, Nantucket Police officer Howard McIntyre asked him to move to the other side of the street.
My sergeant drove past and said it was fine as long as it was passive, McIntyre said, adding that his supervisor ordered him to ask the man to cross the street.

Separation of Church and state only counts for republicans, Its ok for democrats to use churches for democrats to use Churches for political purposes.
I thought everybody knew that.
Seperation of church and state, only applies to conservative causes. Liberals are immune to such rules since they enforce them.
Yes. The church is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions are tax-deductible. And remember, for those who itemize on their tax returns, it doesn't cost a dollar to give a dollar. For someone in the 30% tax bracket, a $1,000 contribution costs only $700 because the gift reduces tax by $300. We also accept donations of stock and property, which are tax-deductible at their fair market value.

You know, IMHO, this is where she belongs. Churches do often encourage the role of the 'pacifist.' It think it's totally appropriate. Much better than her screeching in DC in front of 100 cameras so the world gets another helping of her craziness.
I think she should try to pack churches all across the country if that makes her happy. Just keep her out of the media.
Glad the church still has its tax-free status to have the funding to promote such non-political event. (sarcasm added)

There once was a gal from Nantucket.......
Somebody had too!
A lone protester stood on the sidewalk outside the church before the talk began. He identified himself only as Richard, and said he was a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps visiting his sons who live on the island. The man held a sign reading Cindy, your actions dishonor your son.

Sheehan blames President Bush for her sons death and called him a dictator, a claim that was met with applause.
George Bush is an insane person who wants to be a monarch, she said. People in power are soul-stealers.
Ah, the "Unitarian Universalist Church" believing in everything, and believing in nothing!
This isn't even political anymore it's more like anti-American communist propaganda, her comments are way over the edge now. She is totally out of control and insane what is disgusting are the crowds she draws to her anti-American message, pathetic if not downright scary how many socialist domestic enemies are living in this country and following a mad-person.
I wonder if they paid her $30K.
Her next appearance will be at the Church of Drop Kick Me Jesus Thru The Goalpost's Of Life.

..."With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion -- that is, a religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves...".
