Dems Irked Over Zarqawi's Death
NewsMax.com ^ | June 8, 2006 | Carl Limbacher

Grassroots Democrats weighing in on several popular liberal web sites Thursday morning said that they were troubled by reports that al Qaeda's top operational terrorist, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, had been killed in a U.S. air strike.

Reacting to the news, one visitor to the Daily Kos complained that using military force to kill Zarqawi "violates everything my America stands for."

"It violates the rule of law and invokes the rule of force in what should be a criminal, not a military, matter."

Another Daily Kos'er was irked because he thought the news would benefit President Bush:

"No doubt Karl Rove will have the Sock Puppet President acting as if he personally dropped the bomb that killed that jackass," he wrote. "But other than a couple of photo ops of Bush looking cocky, it does nothing because two more tin-plated Zarqawi's will pop up."

A third Kos poster suggested that there was little difference between the top al Qaeda terrorist and the leader of the free world, writing: "Now [that] we are rid of one murderous tyrant - how about the removal of another one-believed hiding in a safe-house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?"

Over at the Democratic Underground, reaction to news of Zarqawi's death was also negative:

"Convenient too that this would happen now," complained one DU'er: "Guess we should just all forget about that Haditha mess, the fact that we are approaching 2,500 dead and the fact that our economy is in big trouble."

Another DU poster said that killing the al Qaeda chief really wasn't such a big deal, insisting: "Zarqawi was a fringe group of al Qaeda, and definitely NOT responsible for the bulk of the insurgency and civil war now occurring in Iraq. Any gains that they hope to receive will be short-lived when reality strikes home."

Reid: "This is cruel, humiliating, degrading, and tantamount to torture!

"If the Republicans keep treating us Democrats in this way,
we are not going to cooperate in their War on Terror."

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee:

"I called this press conference to announce that my staff has informed me that
they found a secret note that I had written to the effect that if al-Zarqawi were
to be captured or killed that I should be happy. So I am, and I wanted to share
these thoughts with you guardians of our great liberal political philosophies in
the publication world so that you can put the proper interpretation on the events
of this day so I won't look too bad to my constituents who might decide to vote
against me (and so you don't get the impression that I am a complete doofus)."

The Left is the enemy within.

I don't remember reading in any of our history where some of our citizens, for the gain of their political party, so worked against our own defense.

I really wouldn't mind, at this point, if CWII broke out.

Agreed. The left needs to be eliminated, not just defeated.

I monitored DU today. While a minority are celebrating the death of the Z-man, most are downplaying it bigtime. Some of the more moonbatish comments are: (1) the Z-man has been in a freezer for a long time and was just defrosted to boost Bush's poll numbers; (2) G. Bush is the real terrorist (haven't we heard that one before?); (3) the most important concern is the innocent people that MUST have been killed (no evidence provided) when we dropped those bombs; (4) Nick Berg's dad, John Murtha and Lt. Watada are heroes.

I wonder how many of these morons are aware of a few little inconvenient facts about Zarqawi, such as: 1) he's Jordanian, not Iraqi, which means his "right" to be in Iraq is no different than ours; and 2) he already was prosecuted in a "criminal," not a "military" manner (in Jordan), having been tried in absentia, convicted, and sentenced to death for his violent activities in Amman, Jordan over the years.

Probably the same morons who are criticizing Ann Coulter's latest book. I just love it when the masters of trash and insults get all hot and bothered, especially when our troops killed major terrorists.
