Welcome to the live thread for the California Primary Election. Polls are open until 8pm tonight. If you are a registered voter, it is your duty to vote and defend your rights and civil liberties, protect your pocketbook, and vote the bums out where applicable.
Feel free to discuss issues key to your local area that others may be interested in. Post your polling place experiences if you like. And post numbers as they come in later tonight.

BTW in the suburb area of San Diego, Chula Vista, a city of 250,000 nearer the border and a democrat area, a republican won as mayor. :-) Actually Cheryl Cox only got 40% instead of the 50% required to win, so there will be a run-off in November.
But she had a whopping big lead, which looks very good for her.
The incumbent, Padilla got 31% and Castaneda 24% (not sure where his votes will go)
So on to November and a busy Cox campaign.

I laugh at all the gaity!
I'm also amused to see Cruz M. Bustamante's name under Insurance Commissioner for the Dems. If they had a Pest Control Regulator in Ca, they could nominate Gray Davis and bring back their former dynamic duo.

I completely agree with you myself on the significance of the CA-50 results and in fact have downgraded the competitiveness of several GOP districts on my own list.
About the districts you list, however, while they may well be 58%+ Bush districts they were not 58%+ districts for those congressmen, with the exception of Sherwood, who has his unique issues. Rather, they were: a 49% district (Sodrel), a 53% district (Hostettler), a 54% district (Davis), and a 55% district (Taylor).

Doing the happy dance over here too. (Yay, Tony!)
With this Democratic lineup, I think we may be enjoying the sweet smell of roasted rat in California in the November election.

Here in California often they hold elections in elderly living facilities.
Democrats come in during their lunches and lie saying the traditional things like that if you vote Republican your social security will end and you will probably be euthanized.
They get fooled a lot out here IMO.

There goes Meathead's political career! He should have listened when Archie said "didn't need no welfare state".
Too bad Imperial County needed to ruin an otherwise very pretty map - it's only blue in the two Fantasyland counties where lost liberal causes always win. And Prop 81 went down in flames, too, 53%-47%.

Congratulations!
You just won the open spot on my Spawn of Satan list!
While you are using your precious time on earth to spew hatred and lies, I'll wander off and do something productive.
End of last message.

Dems would have had her on every TV show and out on the fundraising circuit so much she wouldn't be doing anything to actually serve the district.
So what does this make the Kos crowd, 0 for 11? LOLOLOL
