No doubt about it. They "quote mine" routinely. And I'm sure they narrow the search to the really sharp freepers. :-}

"About the districts you list, however, while they may well be 58%+ Bush districts they were not 58%+ districts for those congressmen, with the exception of Sherwood, who has his unique issues. Rather, they were: a 49% district (Sodrel), a 53% district (Hostettler), a 54% district (Davis), and a 55% district (Taylor).

You're correct, of course, although it should be noted that Davis and Sodrel will now have the advantage of incumbency. Congressional Democrats traditionally run better in those districts than do most Democrat presidential candidates (although Clinton ran fairly well there), so the question is, e.g., "will Hostettler underperform Bush by 13% instead of by 9%?" and "will Taylor underperform Bush by 9% instead of by 3%?"; otherwise, they'll be reelected once again.

And yes, Sherwood has unique problems this election. We may have dodged the bullet, though, since Democrats didn't exactly run an A+ candidate there.

I guess you were right. I am familiar with the model of Republicans winning a region by, say, 5 points, but winning the same region's absentees by 10 or 20 points. Glad I was wrong!

Family member's gone to Yearly Kos. Egads!

Orange County Sanitation District, which sends about a third of its sewage sludge to Kern, is working on a project to convert 200 tons of sludge to energy daily, according to an announcement Friday.

''Stand by for the rumblings of a mutiny in the psychiatric wing of the Dem party,''.............WOW! Just remembered your post from that night. It seems like a long time ago,and with Zarquawi's death ,I forgot all about what you said until now......Your prediction came true! With that oaf Murtha saying he wants to be majority leader and take Pelosi's place, you were so RIGHT ON about what was about to happen! Maybe you should get a job as a political analyst or something! Ever consider it?

That's very kind...I haven't considered it. Besides which, I wonder who could afford me? I have champagne tastes...

Seriously, though, my interests lie in national issues, not local issues. I have a client that IS a political consultant for the GOP. She absolutely loves her job. Rich Galen (mullings.com) was her mentor.

I know. I also hardly ever pay that much attention to locale issues. But this time the awful GOP HATING, MSM, along with Chris Mathews, and that other creep that I can't stand ,Keith OLberman set me up by harping , day after day on the fact that'' This seat in California was ''crucial'' to the GOP. And the Republicans were sure to going to lose it!(they hoped) And then their wonderful beloved, RATS would be able to ''sail '' into power and the GOP would never win another election again after that, cause the GOP would be so beaten down and defeated! They were almost hysterical LOL! SHEESH! They had me watching this one anxiously.And then we win and ,they've got egg on their face again......Oh well, Sometimes,I wonder if the MSM knows how much they are really despised out here?

They don't have a clue how much they are despised.

Witness a truly despicable report that was published, no less, by AP and picked up by at least one TV channel that I know of, accusing the Special Forces guys on the scene of Zarqawi's Last Stand, of having beaten him to death.

This report was published on the strength of a single report from a single Iraqi, with no attempt at verification, and with the fact that this was not confirmed, buried in the article.

THe Dinosaur Media (DM) have no idea how badly they are about to wound themselves, because this is a thoroughly hateful report, I'm sure you'll agree.
