As the title says, I find FR to have some of the most informed, creative, wonderful people I've ever come across in cyberspace. I find you helpful, talented, knowledgable, and immensly involved.
Having said that, I find it disturbing that we're wrong about so many things- in some cases WAY wrong.
Case in point, the constant harpings that the MSM is nearling extinction... It's NOT, in fact, the lib media has become even more emboldened and committed to defeating the conservative agenda, now that FOX and Talk Radio are so popular. Most folks still get their news from 10 second sound-bites, or newspaper headlines, and the libs surely control that. The lib media influence is no-where near extinction, one could argue that it's just as influential as ever.
Another thing that surprises me are rumors of captures of senior Al-Qaeda operatives, including OBL and Zarqawi... A thread gets started and FReepers jump on the bandwagon "high-fiving" each other.
Thinking that Clinton can't be elected. She already starts with a base of over 40%, and nearly every state that Kerry won. It wouldn't take a whole lot to tip the scales her way.
Polls- how often are good polls touted from the roof-tops, and bad polls are totally discounted. Often some of you cherry-pick the slivers of poll data that you like, to say, aha, the media is biased. Folks, an oversampling of even 10% towards the Dems only moves poll numbers about 4%... So, whether Bush is at 34% or 38%, it's still in the toilet...
I can go on and on... My point is not to be negative, rather, it's to ask FReepers to open our eyes, and have a more realistic viewpoint around us.
Oh yeah, also, I'm pleading, PLEASE don't hijack every thread into an anti-illegal immigration thread (now that I said that, the first post will be just that)...
I should add, those espousing rounding up all of the illegals and deporting them, NEVER gonna happen. Never.

Not in one fell swoop, no. But we need to deport those we find and, most importantly, make it a Federal offense for states to provide services to illegals. Tax (heavily) wire transfers. Couple those with extreme enforcement of employment laws (Georgia is a definite great example), and the problem will fix itself.
Protecting our borders is a Federal issue -- one of the few times when I think the Supremacy Clause MUST take precedence.
What is so wrong about being optimistic?

Being optimistic is great, but we look like fools high-fiving each other at the slightest whiff of a "rumored" capture... Just my opinion.

Hmmm maybe following the rules occasionally is a helpful thing ...
Maybe some of our wonderful neighbors south of the border, and some of our not-quite-so-patriotic entrepreneurs north of the border should do likewise.
For the record, I strongly believe that she WON'T get the nod. Bayh will get it, choose her, or more likely, Warner as VP, and cruise to victory as our next POTUS, unfortunately. Just my 2c.
Hillary at 40% is going to win the race, but Bush at 38% is in the toilet? You should read what you write before posting it.
