EL PASO, Texas - Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas bedroom is nothing short of a shrine to the Marine whose death in an Iraqi roadside explosion preceded a firefight that now is the focus of a criminal investigation.
His dress blue uniform, complete with his ceremonial Marine Corps sword, hangs in a cherry wood display case. His medals, including the Purple Heart awarded after his death, sit below his jacket.
Its very hard for me, I dont even listen to the news, Terrazas said of reports of the mass killings.
Those Marines just did their job
Marine officials initially gave the same story, that 15 civilians were killed Nov. 19 in the explosion and a subsequent firefight that also killed eight insurgents. Several months later Time magazine and then Arab television stations obtained a videotape of the scene, showing the bodies of women and children. The video, Iraqis accounts of the day and other emerging details sparked a criminal investigation.
Terrazas said he has met with many from his sons unit who told him they did only what was necessary to survive. He wouldnt say when he spoke with them.
Those Marines just did their job, he said. Some of these kids were saying, We have to live with it.
Former Marine Luis Terrazas, Miguels uncle, said Marines are trained to stay cool under pressure.
Jarheads dont just go out and kill because they get frustrated, Luis Terrazas said. Their training is exquisite. It just doesnt make sense.

Amen.
sad to note that on the MSNBC site, this excellent story -- an actual interview with the actual Marine parents who know the actual troops involved -- is rated way "LOW" by the few who read it.
very sad. cuz it's a nice story, done with great sensitivity toward these bereaved parents of this brave man.
This is NOT an immigration thread, please stop.
Ah, so this investigation was instigated by a videotape of the bodies of women and children. From whom was this videotape obtained, and is there some sort of agenda behind its release to the press? I know, it's a rhetorical question.
I agree. I was kinda trying to make that point with the guys who brought it up. What part of my statement "has nothing to do with this story" was incomprehensible to you?
I have a Hispanic young women serving in the Navy on the USS Washington. He brother is serving in the Army and her cousin in in the Marines. They are patiotic young people who love their Country and understand that freedom isn't free.
God Bless all our men and women defending our freedom. And may God especially bless the United States Marine Corp. These are men and women who train beyond the call of duty to defend our freedom, including those American's ready to brand them guilty as charged by the MSM.
You have a great screen name. Beyond that I have no comment.
Murtha about made my blood boil by repeating allegations that a marine shot and murdered a woman as she knealt over her baby pleading for her life!
This is just an allegation and reeks of enemy propaganda. He should never have repeated this since he could not possibly know if it is true. Shameful, despicable anti-American propaganda parroted by Murtha, the enemy's friend.

They may have given a shoddy after-action report, but I read today somewhere where the incident was being investigated BEFORE the Time article was published in March. If that is the case, then this cover-up crap is not only untrue, its a treasonous slander.
I wish the speculation on both sides would stop. Nobody knows anything right now. Let the system work.
I understand what you are saying, CN 18F, and we do not disagree on the issue, but I do not like the use of an Hispanic name as a short hand way of expressing disagreement with the President on the amnesty program. I also disagee with much of what is proposed.
As for the rest of your comments, you and I are not apart at all, on anything.
Well, it's always said mockingly. And mocking GWB doesn't sit well with me period. I'm perfectly fine mocking libs. But not our current CIC. You're free to do so, I'm free to be irritated about it.
I second that Amen.
