President's Immigration speech - Live thread

I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim

And, Rush will see right through this "speach" for what it really is, a grand deception.

Unfortunately, I have huge doubts about Rush. I feel that he will praise the speech.

Depends, on what you mean by that.

In general nobody fears any legal hispanics or citizens and I especially think the women are OOH LAA LAA.

When you run into a DU troll on FR, you can post this to run them off:

Just one more thing, sir. How's everybody down at DNC headquarters?

"We'll see how November turns out. If this is the tack the conservatives are going to take the next few months, I wouldn't want to be a democrat right now after this speach. They have to oppose it and all he said in it, and that will put the democrats in the way of what a clear majority of Americans want."

I couldn't agree with you more. President Bush heaved a fastball at the Dems, and they will swing and miss.

We all should vote Republican in Nov. Too much is at risk not to do so. Judges, our votes all come down to that thought.

I was a little shocked to see Peach post that, because Dobbs was visibly upset.

So why don't we take a look at Mexico and see if we like what we see there?

I don't understand your point

So, what do I do in Connecticut, where I can vote for Christopher Shays (R) or Diane Farrel (D), both liberals, and where I can choose between Joe Lieberman (D) and who-knows-who (but whose probably liberal) (R)?

In the past, I have cast caucus votes for the Republicans, even though they never stand against abortion, which is the issue I think is of greatest moral import.

Do I cast another caucus vote?
Or do I go riding?

So many of these people have blinders on. They are not looking very far into the future.

Hello,

As I said, I missed it, being a Mom, I had to take care of, well, being a Mom. I look forward to hearing what they both said, as I am getting different points of view. However, that being said, neither of them (regardless of their views on the President's proposals) are the end all. If they like, fine. If not, let's hear why. Thanks for your update!

Glad to be here, MOgirl

Madam, why do you feel that you are in a position to characterize someone as non-conservative or a RINO simply based on their position on GWB's proposal? Aren't you engaging in the same sweeping broad generalizations that you condemn Peach of making?

Speaking of Chuck Shumer, I saw an interview with him after the speech where he agrees with everything the President laid out.

*slapping my forehead* Now THATS troublesome..!

Whereas the other half of the country was pretty pissed at what he was saying, but then were mollified by the second half of the speech.

At least OUR side is guaranteed a place in the bill. If a bill is passed, that bill will provide border security.

But you won't get that without a comprehensive plan. I disagree that we NEED a comprehensive plan up front, but I DO agree it's the only way to get a bill this year.

Tancredo said he'd rather have NO bill. Smith said he'd rather have NO bill.

I'm willing to bet that a majority of americans will be much happier with a bill that has border security AND the other stuff, than would be happy with no bill at all.

If Clinton had done this, we'd be fighting to get border security ADDED to the bill. It's progress.

I hope you're not a Georgia Peach.

Georgia counts better than that.

Honestly?

If the whole border is not fenced, those areas that are not currently traversed, because they are remote, will become the new entry points.

"You would think we would learn by observing what is happening in France, Sweden, Holland, etc. as the result of unhampered illegal immigration."

Yeah, you'd think. However many people don't. Must be products of the current public school system.
