BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on immigration tomorrow night. Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's "passion" on immigration. He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy. Stand Up For America !

I'm confused. Did they really say support the MINUTE MEN? I did hear it said that they would not replace the border patrol. How much good can the troops do in that capacity. It sounds like administrative work (without guns to protect themselves). AND, is it going to be up to each individual state to decide whether or not the troops go to their border?

Have to share something with you all I thought was interesting.
Had the opportunity to talk with a employer who sometimes hires illegals, so we got into a conversation, I asked how many he hired so fare he said under a dozen, I asked him did he really charge less and he said no way he had to pay $15-20 an hour. I asked why he didn't hire a legal and he said because the illegals are readily available where the legals are not as available. He said he doesn't have to put an ad in the paper etc. they are there ready willing and able.

Here... there ... everywhere.
Still, the employer knows what he's doing, knows the difference.
He could make the effort to hire legal residents.

I've posted many times around here about the probable real numbers of illegals. There are probably 15 million in California, another 10 million in Texas. 40 million sounds about right for a total.

I talked to a guy with Grassfire.org last week and he said that when he was visiting a Congressional office, he noticed that when people call, they enter it into a log. The info from the log is then put into stats that are shown to the Congressman. I'm guessing faxes and emails are done the same way. Reimburse the Cost of Illegals! Dear Official's Name Here

Can more troops stop migrants like this one?
Who's Going To Stop That Man?-Senate negotiators, eager to rejuvenate the immigration-reform proposal that stalled before their Easter break, agreed last week on a bill that would create guest-worker programs--Bush aides say the President will veto any reform that lacks such initiatives
Some immigrants take hard stance on their undocumented successors-Beyond the economic impact, some immigrants have accused more recent arrivals of not properly assimilating.

An immigrant's take on immigration -"This is a hard nut to crack. I do have feelings about it, but the problem is now so big I am not sure we can solve it any more."First of all, you will note in my article that my dad basically outlawed the German language in our house after we came to America. This was so that we would be forced to learn English ASAP, and adopt the American way of life. It only makes sense, if you want to succeed here you have to learn the language and assimilate into the American lifestyle."During my career I had to deal with the illegals living in Los Angeles County. There are actually two sides of me on this issue.
Poll: Wide Support for National Guard Border Plan- A Time magazine poll taken last month shows that Americans overwhelmingly favor deploying the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexican border - an idea that is expected to be the centerpiece of President Bush speech to the nation on immigration reform Monday night. 62 percent of those surveyed told Time that they would back a plan to militarize the border. Just 35 percent opposed. 56 percent told Time that they would favor building a wall across the entire U.S.-Mexican border - not the just 700 miles of fencing proposed in a plan passed by the House in December. Only 40 percent opposed.

California Town Aims to Bar Illegal Immigrants from RentingEnd of Minuteman tour marked by confrontations- "The U.S. Senate is about to shove a veiled amnesty ... down the throats of American citizens," the group's founder, Jim Gilchrist, told about 70 supporters who waved U.S. flags and held signs that read "Enforce Our Laws" and "Secure Our Border." Mr. Gilchrist said that by the year 2025 illegal aliens will outnumber U.S. registered voters if President Bush's guest-worker plan becomes law.
"They are literally going to shove amnesty down our throats," Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist said to the applause of about 150 people. "If they pass this, we are no longer a nation governed by the rule of law. We are governed by mob rule."
Minutemen Assail Amnesty Idea- Gathered in a park by the Russell Senate Office Building, the protesters said that the Senate and Bush have betrayed the nation to curry favor with Hispanics and other immigrants. They spoke particularly harshly of Bush, who has criticized those on the group's border patrols as "vigilantes."
They call them racists- I call them heroes, here's a sample of what happened to the Campo MM in just one week , one town, one MM chapter ! They are not paid, they go hungry and many times do not even have toilet paper, does it make any sense they do this because they are racist?! Come on now!
J J's Campo Report 5-12-06
Quite a few things happening down Campo way lately. In the past week we have had the following scenarios befalling us: 1- We have had a "double header" drive by shooting incident by white skin heads. Kingfish and Max were involved in this series of shootings. 2- On Sunday we were threatened by a black suited coyote waving a machete over his head and cursing us as we chased him and his group over the tops of two mountains. 3- I was involved in the tracking and capture of an escaped prisoner from the Campo Youth Detention Facility in Campo this morning. Suspect was apprehended by B.P. agents around 6:00AM. this morning around 100 yards to the West of my stationed post. 5- Last evening around 7:00PM a truck on the Mexican side of the Border was observed dropping off 5 individuals on the Mexican side of the fence near Little Dog's Freedom Point. I was called to "fill the gap"in this section of the line, and did so. No illegals entered at this point all night.
Hundreds Rally On Immigration Issues In Marshalltown- Counter Protest Also Takes Place -DES MOINES, Iowa -- On Saturday, hundreds of people rallied for and against immigration reform in Marshalltown. Hundreds of Hispanics held up signs to show support for illegal immigrants at the Courthouse Square. Directly across the street, those against illegal immigration held a counter protest.
This one I was invited to:

The Illinois Minutemen Project also staged a separate rally to show their resistance to a comprehensive immigration reform plan and to put pressure on Hastert.
"He is about to appoint pro-amnesty people to the immigration conference committee. It is a sellout of the American worker and American families deserve better," said Rosanna Pulido, Illinois Minutemen Project.
"We need to know who is coming across the border. We need to move people through checkpoints. We want to know what their purpose is," said Rep. Dennis Hastert, House Speaker.
Demonstrators participate in immigration march- Protesters clash over issue- May 13, 2006 - Opponents and supporters of immigration rights marched in west suburban Batavia Saturday. The two groups with two very different ideas about immigration reform met at Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert's office. Those who staged a counter rally say the U.S. belongs to those live in the country legally. "18 illegal immigrants attacked our country on 9/11 and they wouldn't have been able to do it if we had had secure borders and border enforcement," said Yvonne Dinwiddie, Citizens Protecting Your Rights. Combine the two protests, may not be the largest demonstration at U.S. House speaker Dennis Hastert's office but it is certainly an attention getter.

Can't disagree with that logic!
Too little, too late politically, in my opinion. This should have been done Sept 12, 01. Maybe when these losers in the Senate are voted out of office, they'll be able to move to Mexico.

President Bush has betrayed us...did you hear THAT, Laura?
Voter Discontent Threatens Pa. Incumbents -STEELTON, Pa. - If Pennsylvania is a barometer, an endangered species list could be taking shape for incumbents in this fall's elections as increasing voter anger spreads across the political landscape. Pennsylvanians increasingly have adopted a throw-all-the-bums-out attitude. High-profile candidates whose futures are at stake include Democrat Rendell; Sen. Rick Santorum (news, bio, voting record), the No. 3 Republican in the Senate leadership; and three GOP incumbents in House seats in the Philadelphia suburbs.
News Analysis: Is Bush Overreaching? - Congress is on notice from the president that he will not enforce parts of legislation he believes interfere with his constitutional authority."There's a concern about terrorism that continues to this day. And, on balance, people are saying, `protect us,'" said Doherty.
