Minutemen Draw Counter-Demonstrators May 12, 2006 The Minutemen, a group opposed to illegal immigration and known for staging civilian patrols along the U.S.-Mexico border, gathered in Upper Senate Park near the Capitol Friday to bring attention to immigration bills being debated in Congress. Police stood between the Minutemen and a group of counter- demonstrators that chanted slogans and voiced opposition to the Minutemen.

Roy Warden (Border Guardians flag burner) Arrested in Tucson for Arson, Dest. of Govt Property- KGUN 9 Newsreader said Roy Walden, one of the older and more vocal flag burners of the Border Guardians was arrested this afternoon for Arson and destruction of government property. He is free on bail. He told the newsreaders he has had repeated death threats and is openly carrying firearms for self defense.

I talked to a guy with Grassfire.org last week and he said that when he was visiting a Congressional office, he noticed that when people call, they enter it into a log. The info from the log is then put into stats that are shown to the Congressman. I'm guessing faxes and emails are done the same way.

Poll: Wide Support for National Guard Border Plan- A Time magazine poll taken last month shows that Americans overwhelmingly favor deploying the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexican border - an idea that is expected to be the centerpiece of President Bush speech to the nation on immigration reform Monday night. 62 percent of those surveyed told Time that they would back a plan to militarize the border. Just 35 percent opposed. 56 percent told Time that they would favor building a wall across the entire U.S.-Mexican border - not the just 700 miles of fencing proposed in a plan passed by the House in December. Only 40 percent opposed.
