All my life, I believed in Republican values -- individual responsibility and limited government. Then it happened; I found myself with a small child, unemployed and disabled. I turned to my church, and after years of regular tithes, suddenly I just wasn't their problem. My Republican friends? I was now a pariah to them.

My only relief was to turn to government assistance for housing, food, and other needs and I was able to survive with dignity.

So chalk me up as one who no longer drinks the GOP koolaid.

And as for your church turning it's collective back on you.......try the new Methodist Church. They are soooo left-wing these days that I can't believe they would turn you away.

Their ads are pretty annoying (especially the one with the woman who says "I can't believe there's a church that believes these things," the "things" being stuff like it's OK to worship with people who don't look like you--duh!) but the worst is the United Church of Christ campaign that showed bouncers keeping handicapped people and Blacks out of a church. Of course, what the UCC really meant was "We'll encourage your homosexuality," but since they don't have the guts to say that, they instead slander evangelical churches by implying that we are racists and have a phobia for thedisabled. Real winners.

The good news is I replaced everything and she don't have a pot to pi$$ in or a window to throw it out of.

I never join in these ZOT threads, but I had to here.

Which church is it you belong to? Must not be Catholics, because they WILL help you (disclaimer for those of you who hate the Papists - I'm NOT Catholic - don't even own a Bible). Pretty much all of my real friends are Republicans, and I would be stunned if they didn't help me. I have to wonder what else is behind your tale of woe.
