Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

I won't allow the democrats to run roughshod over all the progress made since 2001.

I won't allow the democrats to run roughshod over all the progress made since 2001 1994.

The failure of the Democrats to mirror "the progress since 2001" will ensure their demise.

We took Clinton's impending recession into the Mother of all Booms.

There is no way to sustain it with their agenda. Let them take the blame.

Add now the crisis looming in world events and maybe you can see why I want them to captain the ship for awhile.

I wish I’d posted #706 on a day when I wasn’t overwhelmed with the work Americans WILL do. For that reason pardon the brief, multiple reply.

Desert_Girl: A stupid statement? You say your husband is “Mexican?” I was hoping he’d be an American. Are you? My post is based on facts, not stereotypes. And the only people I truly hate are those who dishonestly accuse me of being a hater, as you do.

Our Party is getting ready to cynically sell native-born American citizens out so it can pander to illegal non-citizens they HOPE may vote for them, and the rich mega-corporations that fund their campaigns.

The sad, demonstrable truth is that illegal aliens who are desperate, seeking “decent health care,” etc. as you put it, vote Democrat, legally or illegally. Democrats give them free stuff like taxpayer-subsidized health care to buy their votes. The cheap lettuce, gardening, housecleaning and other “low labor cost” services they perform are more than paid for by average Americans through billions of dollars in extra taxes for schools, free college tuition for illegal aliens (but not their own kids!), the rampant crime problem illegals create, hospitals, welfare, etc.

As for the other items on your list, nothing will change for the better if the Democrats (with some 12 million new voters) are able to create their socialist “utopia.” Unbridled illegal “immigration” will put the Democrats into power permanently. We need to exert indescribable pressure on businesses that employ illegals.

As a taxpayer I’m outraged at having to subsidize roofing companies, huge agribusiness corporations, etc. I don’t want a wall and I don’t want to permanently deport illegals. I do want a system that allows them to work here legally, with possibly a reasonable path to legal citizenship and assimilation, AFTER the flow of new illegals (and potential terrorists) is in place. And I want legislation or a Constitutional amendment that will put a permanent end to “anchor babies.”

Mo1 It’s sad when posters can’t think and respond in the original context of a post. I’m sure George Bush in his remaining time in office will deal with the Iran threat very effectively if our wishy-washy Congress will let him. But I was responding to Jim’s post in which he suggested we should maybe roll over on illegal immigration because of many other issues. I simply take the position that those other issues, maybe even Iran, will ultimately be resolved by Democrats if we don’t get hold of the border issue decisively right now. That’s the legislation that will be considered immediately after Easter recess, in case you haven’t been keeping up, which is why I say it should be our ‘only’ focus. An ‘amnesty’ bill that doesn’t stop the flow of illegals will result in a permanent Democrat majority, and soon. See my response to Desert Girl.

ohioWfan Your tunnel vision is extraordinary! Your myopia is stunning! Pro-life, pro-military (or any other issue) conservatives simply have to put incredible pressure on the people who are supposed to be representing us to permanently stop the flow of illegals now (see the preceding). Otherwise Democrats will “solve” the problems you’re concerned with. Either we claim our own country and rights NOW or we get used to Teddy Kennedy-style socialism.

Plutarch Thank you and bless you for seeing the light! You are absolutely correct that “The battle for our destiny is joined, and the field is the illegal issue.”

There is simply nothing else that matters. If those 12 million new largely Democrat-voting new “citizens” are foolishly put into place by Republicans via a bill that essentially grants amnesty, the Grand Old Party is done for, at least in its traditional non-oligarchic sense. Democrats will rule. And I’ll be a man with no political party.

I simply don't have time for further responses today. Besides, there's probably no way to convince those who don't 'get it' already.

Huh??? When did I ever say otherwise? OF COURSE we do, and I am.

Let's not be jumping to conclusions based on incomplete data, shall we??

(I AM severely myopic, but my glasses take care of it just fine, thanks........and my peripheral vision is just peachy.......Sheesh!)

The problem with your scenario is, the left doesn't take responsibility for their own actions, regardless of how many branches of government they're in control of.

You need to understand how the left operates. Apparently you don't.

FWIW, the quote in full:
"It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly American criminal class except Congress."
Mark Twain

And, another from Twain:
"Suppose you were an idiot. Suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."

I'm just sick and tired of the President not being appreciated in any way.

I am sick and tired of the blantant anti-americanism...anti-patriotism...anti capitalism...anti-big business...treasonous behavior by the Democrats and mainstream media.

My blood pressure is high as it is. I can't take this anymore. [grabs chest]

I am only 1 vote.

IMO, the only thing that will shut them up is to hand them the keys.

The GOP have no spine for a fight. They are not leaders in the Legislative branch. They are enuchs.
