Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

The President used the word 'vigilante' in reference to a question about the Minutemen.

The fact that he personally didn't use the word 'minutemen' is irrelevant. But thanks for chiming in with a thoroughly pointless comment and the completely gratuitous jab anyway.

You're welcome - since you admit the President did not use the word "Minutemen", there is at least some doubt as to whether he was referring to said group, or, as the question asked, those "hunting migrant people along the border" - I believe his spokesman made it clear the President was NOT referring to the Minutemen Project specifically. YMMV : )

Agreed, Jim - I guess you and I are simply "perpetuating the slave trade" though ; )

"yes our creator....."

All Darwin Central devotees believe in a "creator"...Now that is a news flash!

I am surprised at your admission of the Creator, Vaquero...especially given some of your previous posts and associated graphics.

Let me ask...what evidence supports your belief in, and acceptance of, a creator?

"so what [creator] would that be????"

Given historical records and documentation, the Creator that is mentioned about five times in the Declaration of Independence, is the God of the Bible.

"would you leave that up to us to decide..."

The identity of the Creator in the Declaration of Independence has already been historically established/determined...Historical facts are not up for modern day decisions/determinations (except for in a liberal's revisionist history).

"or..............do you foist upon us YOUR views which you have determined the founders meant; ie the constitution freedom of religion only works for those who believe in YOUR concept of Christ (and no other belief in a creator be he/she Jew, Hindu or Rastafarian) and creationism."

Stating that the Creator of the Declaration of Independence is the God of the Bible does not foist upon anyone my views. It is simply an accurate historical statement, which does not violate anyone's constitutional freedoms.

Your above-mentioned reasoning is on par with that of the ACLU and Mr. Neudow(sp?)...and last time I checked, these folks were no friends of conservatism.

The issue being discussed is beyond evolution itself.

The reasoning being used by the other poster smacks of the ACLU and anti-conservatism.

Do we have God-given rights, or not (it is on Jim Robinson's list and therefore discussable within the realm of conservatism, right)?

In discussing this issue previously on this site, many posters (not specifically the currently engaged poster) claimed that the founding documents, including the Constitution, were living, breathing documents.

If this mindset is acceptable within conservatism...conservatism is dead.

Just thought it wise for you to consider Jim's earlier sentiments. Totally up to you what you do with the info.

Thanks for your kind reply.

Can we please get rid of the porndogs? I don't like walking into a perfectly innocent thread & getting blasted with pornographic comments.

I agree completely. Especially since I sometimes read the threads from a government network.

I said nothing about secession. There are think tanks that advocate an EU style merging of the US, Mexico and Canada. It might happen as is. If mexico continues to be given the huge preference in immigration that it is now, the merger will happen. Would you agree that Germany does not border the US? This wave of immigration is larger than any other in history and comes largely from a country next door. We have never had anything like that before. Traditional assimilation patterns cannot be assumed.

you can take the creator to mean whatever you want. I do not find the words of bronze age goat herders comforting (as to a final reward), nor do I consider what is written in the bible, either old or new to be necessarily the word of God. It may be, neither I or you know. Your happen to believe and faith is strong, so in that sense, you "KNOW" it is true.

I do believe most of what is written in the old and new testaments is good solid moral truths that need to be adhered to for the sake of society.

but please don't call me a liberal. I am not. and please do not connect me with the ACLU. I take that as slander.

People came to North America in that part of new world, which ultimately became the US, to escape religions persecution of the european despots. Seems to me your trying to revive that persecution.

All Darwin Central devotees believe in a "creator"...Now that is a news flash!

SO I WROTE:

yes our creator.....

so what would that be????

would you leave that up to us to decide as we have freedom of (and from) Religion as part of our constitution guaranteed rights

And somehow you take that as meaning ALL DARWIN CENTRAL

That is an illogically structure argument. Where the heck did you get ALL from....sounds like you pulled that one from where the moon don't shine

and ps. Darwin Central is your derogatory term for those who believe, as the Catholics and Jew do, that it is not how our bodies evolved from lower forms that really matters, it is how our souls were created that defines humanity

I saw the press conference. The questioner included the Minutemen name in the question. Bush knew exactly what he was saying.

While you are correct, it is up to those who claim that this migration is somehow different to prove their case.

The word Minutemen is still recognizable with a spanish accent. You must really think Bush is stupid. The Minutemen were in the news. Mexican and illegal friendly media were claiming they were "hunting migrants". Bush knew what he was saying. You dont need to defend him. Bush is on yours and Mexico's side.
