It is on CTV news channel.
Just breaking - explosion in a coffee shop in downtown Toronto, Canada.
Reporter just talked about some sort of explosives strapped to a guy and explosion occured in a busy district of the city.
Will keep you posted!
Ignore him, Ohio. He gets off on creating dissent..
Nah he had watched to many movies and decided to investigate a la Mythbusters whether hairspray was flammable.
(Dissent about issues I can deal with. Dissent for the sake of dissent is just plain silly).
Thank God that no one was hurt. It also shows to leftists that being anti-US does not mean that you will get spared - not even in Toronto. Hopefully Harper will seize this momentum to make a 180 on any of the remaining wussy policies.
And if you should look back through my posts, you will see that I am certainly no admirer of the Japanese, or their conduct, in WW11 - Quite the contrary.
The donut shop
owned by Amin Islam
where the explosion took place
(excuse me, isolated incident)
happens to be two short blocks
from Best Copy
of 09-11-01 fame
and right next to the Toronto public library
whose internet services were used
by some of the plotters.
A coincidence
no doubt.
Homicidal Suicide Bomber ???
I dunno. If this was a terrorist act, why a bathroom cubicle? Why a Sunday? Why there?
Since we're all engaging in a bit of uninformed speculation, it looks like a suicide, but not a "homicide bombing."
I hope it's nothing more than that.
So what's the reward in blowing up a donut shop - 72 lunch ladies serving sloppy joes in the hereafter?
Dog face,
Wipe that excrement off your ugly mutt, Commie.
Theory 1:
Bomber acting on his own. Forgot to set his watch ahead last night and thought he had an hour to go to get into position when bomb went off.
Theory 1A: same as above, but bomb accidently set off, perhaps while bomber trying to remove it.
Theory 2:
Co-ordinated attack set up with multiple bombers. This bomber made a pit stop on the way and accidently set bomb off early. Resulting media attention scares off other in the cell from carrying out plan.
Absolutely not.
These are homicide bombers, just like they are TERRORISTS, and you are an IDIOT.
And to think, I've spent the last 5 years trying to get the Minutemen to pay attention to our NORTHERN border. Dearborn, here they come. Again.
Actually, I think that the term comes more from a reaction against the implied "virtue" of martyrdom. It's not plausible that more than a handful of people, hearing the phrase "suicide bomber", would be led to believe that this person was just depressed and decided to take only his own life with this particular method.
But there are some people, especially in other counties, who might think that killing others in a suicide bombing is a glorious way to go. The phrase "homicide bomber" is a reaction against these people, just as "freedom fries" is a reaction against the French.
It's great that we can make statements against people we don't like, but why do we have to hijack our language to do it? For those who just want information from their news and are not in favor of homicidal "martyrdom", the language just became more confusing and less informative. Our language has already been screwed up enough in the quest to make various types of statements.
People who don't want to have to order "freedom fries" are not necessarily pro-French. People who happen to object to the term "homicide bomber" in this context do not have any less concern for the innocent victims of suicide bombers than you do.
Please read the thread, especially post #102.
Ping to #426.
You and me both. Exponentially in my case.
interesting.
Very interesting indeed.
