Just got home from work, and was listening to Joe Crummy on KFYI interview one of the dads of the kids that burned the Mexican flag:
Apparently, his kid was arrested by AJ Police and was held in detention in Florence all day yesterday. CHarged with Arson. It took all of their savings to get a retainer for an atty.
It gets better. The family is now getting death threats. They were informed by police that there are those trying to find out where the family lives, and are going after them. AJ police stated to the father, there is nothing they can do about it, until someone actually shows up on their property.
Also, there was another kid from the school (Rod, who said he was a "future" Marine) read that letter from the school, forbiding any kid to wear any article of clothing resembling or representing a flag, no matter what country it represents.
He said emphatically, that he *will* wear the US Flag to school Monday.
Apparently this flag burning was near the ROTC table.
My respect for the kids in AJ have grown a hundred fold!

Whose property is it when you put it on a flagpole that isn't yours? Then the caretakers of that flagpole remove it and return it to you, only for you to put it up that flagpole again?
They abandoned their flag.
The Dons didn't then and wouldn't today give a tiny rat's a** about one of ''their own'' burning anyone's flag.
All that said, of course, Xlinton is at minimum guilty of provable sedition. Carter, naturally, is still ''Big Daddy'' as regards sedition at law.
"One could argue it was abandoned. "
From what i read and understood on this thread that was not the case:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1606949/posts
"Tensions over immigration reform heightened in the Phoenix area's East Valley Thursday when students raised a Mexican flag over Apache Junction High School and then other students yanked it down and burned it."
The elements required for the crime of arson, though, are very clear.
SAJ appears to have some knowledge of the law, and is saying that the school district does not have legal cause in this case...that the student who owned the burned Mexican flag is the injured party and has a tort action.
That's a steaming pile. Tony "hammered" Travis? Please. Reminds me of the other neo-cons on the WBTS threads - wishful thinking.
Mexico has treated those people like crap - yet that is the flag they honor?!!
This country has been much kinder to them then old meh-hee-ko that's for sure.
That's because Mexican schools, like American schools, only indoctrinate about the eee-vil Yankee capitalists.
The boy should be proud, charges be damned. He is a true patriot.
This is just as bad as those farmers who lost their farm to those illegal aliens that they caught and held for breaking into their farm.
They ran their flag twice up a flagpole that wasn't theirs. The first time the caretakers of the pole (ROTC) removed it and returned it to them. The second time they removed it and disposed of it. It is a finding of fact whether the students had abandoned their property or not.
Not really. Who would expect someone to fly a foreign flag over a US public building, ever?
Sure, it should be a federal crime, but only due to recent events. I didn't quite expect such anti-Americanism from these "undocumented workers" (sarc). They have no idea what they are doing (as far as the personal consequences they will face). Pretty soon, someone is going to get shot or beat to death doing one of these stupid acts. While Americans are not extremely patriotic in their normal day to day lives, they are extremely patriotic when they see an enemy on US soil (i.e. 9/11).
Personally, I hope that everyone who owns a flagpole to secure it by some means, armed guards if necessary.
BURN BABY BURN!
Not only have we been invaded; it seems as if we have been conquered.
Unbelievable... but sadly it is..
"Tensions over immigration reform heightened in the Phoenix area's East Valley Thursday when students raised a Mexican flag over Apache Junction High School and then other students yanked it down and burned it."
Read the AZ board. The flag was run up the ROTC flagpole twice. The first time it was removed and returned to the student of Mexican heritage. The second time, it was removed and burned.
He abandoned it twice in a provocative act designed to elicit a response. F'em.
Also, the school most likely doesn't have legal standing to press arson charges. It wasn't their property that was burned. The allegedly injured party, the Mexican flag owner, would have to do that.
Do please pardon me if I hesitate to accept ANY California definition as being applicable in the real world.
Thanks, and FReegards!
** we are screwn, kids.**
You're probably right. It sure doesn't make any sense.
I'm not a lawyer, of course, but I respect the law. It gets me enemies on this board a lot, mainly because I try to stay reasoned, and not support someone just because I agree with them. I totally agree with those who tore the flag down and burned it, by it seems legally they were wrong. I'd bet though that the injured party (the owner) did not file this complaint, and if that is the case then it wrong and unlawful for the boy to be arrested. Correct?
Hey, they may be.
