I hope I haven't stirred anything up here. I stumbled into an old thread thinking it was new, and looked a a few recent posts and found that one about Sinkspur and idly speculated without any evidence (and obviously incorrectly) that it was that post that might have caused the problem that actually didn't exist.
I didn't read that thread except for the one post, so I don't know what the context is.

So far, according to what his dad Greg has said on the radio tonight, they (Apache Junction) haven't dropped the charges. So things are a go, so far.
Just heard "Greg", the father of Jeff who was arrested and is incurring legal costs for burning the raised Mexican flag at Apache Junction school:
He just got through talking to Joe Crummy on KFYI. He said after all of the costs so far incurred to him, for retaining the lawyer, bail, ect...ect...he is...$100 ahead!
He expressed his sincere gratitude just now to everyone who has contributed.
There are still more issues in the matter going on behind the scenes, they say. The school is saying one thing, however the kids (on both sides, quoted in The Tribune) are saying another. If I can find the article, I'll try to post the link.
It appears that the school is denying that the Mexican flag was raised, nor that it was "attached" to the pole in the first place.
Here's what the district says happened:
About 6:55 am, more than an hour before the U.S. flag is raised on the flagpole at the NJROTC building each day, three Hispanic students tried to raise a Mexican flag on the pole. Before they could get it fully attached, three Anglo students approached, took the flag down, and handed it to the Hispanic students, asking them to take it away. A few minutes later, two of the original three Hispanic students returned and again tried to raise the Mexican flag. Before they could do so, the Anglo students took the flag, threw it on the ground, and one of them lit it on fire.
The father is taking issue with what the district is saying about the whole thing. Read here.
At any rate, the out pouring of support is very appreciated from what he said today.

I love the patriotic American kids, and yet this makes my blood boil.
How many times have evil America-haters burned OUR flag in our country, and absolutely NOTHING happened to them...? And it SHOULD have.

Notice how the teachers and principals hide behind the term "school officials." What pantywaists!!
Kids are supposed to learn lessons in school, right? The lesson to the hispanic kids should have been, don't try to raise a foreign flag on OUR flag pole. Instead, they learn what wusses the principals are and see our heroes persecuted for doing what was right.
The patriotic American parents need to get together and give the "school officials" a lesson at the next board meeting.
Thanks for the continuing updates. That's ridiculous whether they raised it or not--they were trying to do it. Haven't been able to contribute yet--got to wait until mid month. Good news that he is getting lots of help.
