House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

Pass this "white flag" ad from Dec 2005 around on the internet, it's from gop.com

Dec '05 TV Ad
At least gop.com has not been taken over by the RINO's!
Too bad the RINO's allow the attacks on President Bush.
Too bad the RINO's refuse to acknowledge the connection
between Iraq and WMD and al queda.
Too bad the RINO's allow the likes of hanoi kerry to remain in the US Senate
while the dim's call for the impeachment of President Bush.
Too bad the RINO's won't allow the "white flag" ad to be run again on TV
Too bad the RINO's think it's OK
for hanoi kerry to be in the US Senate,
and attack our troops,
and have the nerve to censure real Viet Nam Vets
who call for the traitor to be held fully accountable!
The same RINO's who were the "silent majority" in the 60's and 70's
and who caved in to the minority looney left.
But no guesses on why illegal immigration took off immediately following the last 'fix', and why it might not be a really good idea to propose something similar today?
As I told you on another thread, I've been at Disneyland.
I am out of the loop, and haven't caught up yet.
From a quick turn around the forum, I think I'm glad I have been away, though.
However, there's one thing I knew before I left, and one thing that is true today.
You are VERY well liked on this forum.
Unless you shoot somebody*, I think you will be here as long as you desire.
I hope that is a VERY long time.
*Is shooting somebody a bannable offense? ;o)
"You can blame W for a lot of things (and can give credit where it's due, too), but it's not the President's fault that we citizens can't rally 500,000 like the illegals can."
We are not a country of street mobs. Unlike third world Latin countries, Americans debate issues and vote for those supporting their views. Citizens with jobs, families and responsibilities do not need to compete in street theatrics with those who march because they cannot (legally) vote.
The primary reason for this is that we have a societal expectation that our elected representatives in the legislative and executive branches will well, and faithfully, represent our interests.
The points you just made, are one of many reasons why I no longer travel to Mexico.
Add, there were about 150 elderly retirees that bought, new beach front homes at Rosarita Beach, Mexico. They lived there for about five years. Then overnight, a Mexican court, ordered them out within 30 days. At the end of the 30 day period, armed federal police were there to enforce the order. Justice done, Mexican style!
Those slaps and Medicare Drug act.
Why guess? Since the politicians did such a wonderful job taking care of the problem twenty years ago (BUT IT'S STILL BUSH'S FAULT!), I think we should have them get involved again. But even more involved!
Like I said, you use a common Holocaust denier trick.
You and the Holocaust denier deny objective facts (like no prosecutions of routine hirers of illegals, no meaningful border enforcement, the insistence that border security can only be part of a guest worker program instead of being a fundamental part of his job, all those dead Jews) because you are both interested in perpetrating lies. You insist that reality exists only on official documents, which is frankly psychotic.
It is a total waste of time trying to 'prove' to a Holocaust denier that the Holocaust actually happenned. And it is a total waste of time trying to 'prove' to you objective facts.
A loser of arguments always try to revert back to historical extremes to make the final case for their claim. I guess you're admitting you don't have documentation making it "Bush's Policy" to tell the law enforcement community to ignore the law as you claim?

The American people are counting on us to secure our borders and restore the rule of law to our immigration system. The Senate Judiciary Committee today let the American people down by passing out a blanket amnesty bill. We've been down this path several times before, and it proved a failure.
There was a real opportunity to take the steps necessary to fix our failed immigration enforcement system and while progress was made, we did not get there. The proper approach is to first fix the enforcement system and then to undertake a national discussion about immigration, considering how to justly handle those here illegally and what rules should govern future immigration levels. We also have not effectively dealt with the national security issues.
I voted against the committee passed legislation because it rewards illegal behavior, will be considered amnesty by the people and will not restore respect for law. Fortunately, the House of Representatives has passed a solid bill, and there will be an opportunity to improve the Senate version in the days to come.
My son had a LEGAL worker who requested as much overtime as possible, because he had to save money in order to pay for his son's heart surgery. He had to pay IN ADVANCE.
Now, perhaps people can understand why some illegals come across the border and hit the emergency wards in San Diego and Laredo. All of the critics of the American medical system need to relocate to Mexico City.
I am not condoning illegal immigration, but solving a problem requires understanding why people behave in a certain manner.
LOL...thanks for that.
Bye the way, my daddy's opus can kick your daddy's opus any day of the week. What movie? A free set of steak knives if you get the right answer.
Pity, I'm not a movie buff. But, I'll take a stab, Napoleon Dynamite? "Vote for Pedro!"
bump
forgot to include you. oops, sorry about that.
Is the law being ignored ? Yes.
Whose responsibility is that ultimately ? Whose responsibility is it to see that the agencies of federal power do their jobs ? And who has always insisted that a 'guest worker' program must precede any meaningful enforcement ?
Try as you might the truth is obvious.
But it sounds great in Spanish!
