House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

I agree. We as citizens haven't done enough, either. For instance, immigration wasn't even a campaign issue in 2000 and 2004. Whose fault is that?!
Worse, illegals can out-rally us on our own turf (e.g. 500,000 in LA this month).
You can blame W for a lot of things (and can give credit where it's due, too), but it's not the President's fault that we citizens can't rally 500,000 like the illegals can.
God help us if public policy turns on the Left's being able to generate more punks in the streets than our side can.
Fact is poll after poll indicates the president's position on this issue is extremely unpopular. And it is clear that the president's encouraging rhetoric during the past several years has resulted in a definite uptick in illegal border crossings.
Anyone who thinks that President Bush hasn't greatly exacerbated the illegal immigration problem is deluding himself.
the major problems conservatives face with regards to protest marching:
1. we tend to be less prone to groupthink than leftists and leeches.
2. we tend to work for a living.
that said - we all need to work locally to lawfully discourage our local businesses and politicos from making it easy to be illegal on our turf.
this I do.
'course, I live in a small town in podunk, so my task is relatively easy.
when I lived in Doraville (Atlanta)... Sisyphus got no pity from me.
Amen, brother or sister.
Generally, I consider loyalty a virtue. On this issue, however, the stakes are just too high and its time the government have its feet held to the fire.
We passed an immigration bill 20 years ago. Its way past time to demand our leaders deliver on their promises for a change.
And, indeed, it is. When it is a two-way street, and runs in both directions. Failing that, it is a form of enabling.
Mob rule seems to be his way of pandering to the criminals in our midst.
The man is so determined to kiss the butt of every single group he's lost his mind completely.
They've failed us...repeatedly.
The least they could do is not add to the damage they've already inflicted.
I've read every single post in this thread (my brain really hurts), and yours have been very informative and helpful. Thanks for hanging in there.

Don't blame me, I voted for the North American Proletariat, President "Better than Kerry" in what I thought was defense of America!

You're right, we should all drop what we're doing and drive the mob-hordes that demand the rights of LEGAL Americans - back to the other side of the border, so that the nationally elected critters that took an oath understand that we mean business!
Remember all the clueless idiots who rabidly attacked the Dubai Ports Deal and pointed to polls of other clueless idiots as vindication?
It never ends.
Hey, ain't that about the time immigration began really growing out of control?? Go figure!
Why yes, it is.
Did you want to offer an explanation why you think that might be, or are you just gonna affect that West Virginian accent again? (sends me into stitches!)
West Virginia? I'm hurt. That was vintage western 10-e-c!
I have read stories of Americans needing emergency medical care in Mexico. The hospitals demand full payment and if your credit card is maxed out, there are instances of keeping the people there until it is paid in full!
Can you picture our emergency rooms if we tried that?
Thanks for the ping Tonkin.
Time for the real conservatives on FR,
be it Republicans, Independents or Democrats
(like Zell Miller and John O'Neill) to band together
and oust the looney left and RINO's
The "Politically Correct RINO's" on FR are the same group
who "swore"
klintoon, hitlery, hanoi kerry, sanbdi ber(bur)glar, al bore, jane beno,
would be prosecuted for
pardongate, chinagate, the bribes in upstate NY in the 2000 NY Senate race, waco, etc, etc,
"when" the "time was right".
Aren't you going to hide behind the "troops" somewhere in your post?
