a school will have to follow that policy if they accept Fed funds too. Pretty much always been that way, at least ever since I can remember the Fed handing out goodies to local schools. They have to take the strings with it.

You may find states who accept highway money being forced to build mass transit or else.
They impose similar things now. We have HOV lanes imposed on us now because the state takes federal funds. This huge monstrosity, barely used, while most of us sit in bumper to bumper traffic.

Finally posted at DUmmies hahaha druidity33 (411 posts) Mon Mar-06-06 01:46 PM Response to Reply #11 45. yeah, right... State Universities LIVE on Federal Funds... which means (gasp) only the poorer people will be unable to opt out. Private Unis make do with endowments and can afford to shirk Fed cash. Again, this will do nothing but put the burden on the backs of people who can least afford to support it. F*cking ba$tard$. Here we go with the class warfare issue again!!

I bet they'd also be unanimous at allowing Federal funding of education, despite there being no Constitutional authority for it. How did I KNOW that YOU were going to say that!?!

Yale has the biggest problem with this decision. For the state schools, if the law schools insist, they will just separate the law school from the other part of campus and separate its bureaucracy so that it's a separate entity. A useless gesture, but such things are important to bubbleheads. Yale can't do that. Think the Feds will look right through some gimmick like that. I know in the Federal Procurement rules that won't wash. My guess is that the law school would have to be a completely separate school with no connections whatever to Yale.

Well, you know I'm a conservative: pro-Constitution and limited government, not just Bushbot-Republican.

And liberals now get to realize what we small-government conservatives have known for a long time--if you get a handout from the government, there's ALWAYS strings attached. Once you take that money, if you want to keep it, you dance to their tune. Absolutely right, and all that rubbish about we have a right to Federal funds is out the window. I am sure the libs will come back at it from a different angle.

I don't see this resulting in burning draft cards (or Kent State massacres) since there are none.
But the soccer moms (aka Cindy Sheehan) will be p!ssed.

Those are not Federal agencies, and that is what this law speaks to.

My school has mandatory chapels and we have federal financial aid.
If you do not attend the required number of chapels per semester (14), you won't be able to graduate. Period.
I somehow doubt you are explaining the Grove City situation correctly.
