But Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar appears to have acted alone, campus police say
A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate told investigators he intentionally drove into a crowd of students on campus Friday to "avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world," UNC Police Chief Derek Poarch said Saturday.
Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, 22, told detectives to go to the Carrboro apartment he shared with two other men, saying authorities would find evidence there that would explain his decision to hurt students. Poarch declined to say what, if anything, was found, but emphasized that Taheri-azar appears to have acted alone.
It does not appear that Friday's attack had anything to do with a recent editorial criticizing Arabs and a cartoon depicting the prophet Muhammad in the campus newspaper, both of which angered many Muslim students, Poarch said at a news conference Saturday.
But because Taheri-azar's statements to police suggested a political motive, campus authorities contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he said.

Isikoff was on FOX yesterday pumping this same bilge. If I could'a stuck my fist thru the screen I would'a torn the little head right off his sloped shoulders.

"Religious revenge" has a nice ring to it but it seems to me to be 'attempted murder' on a mass scale.
Am searching now for laws against 'religious revenge'.....searching.....searching......

If it is political in motive, it meets the govt. definition of terrorism.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/elsewhere/journalist/story/0,7792,487098,00.html
"Using the definition preferred by the state department, terrorism is: "Premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant* targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience."
"The key point about terrorism, on which almost everyone agrees, is that it's politically motivated. This is what distinguishes it from, say, murder or football hooliganism"

Is it me or does there appear to be some irony in this story.
Now before everybody lights me on fire, I know these kids in the Pit did not necessarily defend the Terrorists. However isn't it strange that this nut job would attack the very place that has been a bastion of defending Terrorists rights. We have seen story after story about, not just UNC, but most Universities pushing Muslim understanding courses. "We have to understand why the poor Muslims want to blow us up"
I just think it should be a blaring wake up call to all the appeasers out there. You keep feeding that old Crocodile.

Grinstead said that the incident is upsetting, but that he doesn't want to jump to conclusions. "I'm waiting for all the facts to come out before making any accusations," Yes, lets wait until "all the facts come" in before we judge him to be a crazy jihad wannabee.

What's missing is the sense of personal responsibility central to our legal system. This nitwit muslim decided that because some people somewhere are killing other people somewhere, he will try to kill still other people somewhere else. He lacks any sense of the personal repsonsibility which would suggets that, if he has a legitimate complaint with the people doing the killing, it is they who should be addressed and dealt with. He recognizes his inability to do so, therefore he attacks innocent people he can reach.

It was awhile before even Fox mentioned his nationality. You know, we have been and are still going through the same kind of thing with the attempted terrorist attack on OU in Norman Oklahoma. Major whitewashing on the would-be terrorist's associations with the local Muslim group (same one involved in other terrorist activity, including the so-called 20th hijacker who attended the same mosque), and downplaying the important facts of the case--all so they could come to a conclusion that it was a mere suicide.

You have to use explosives to enter a cooperative perp's home?
Perhaps anticipating that the apartment door would have been left boobytrapped to kill investigators? Sounds like the cops thought it was TERRORISM.

The interesting part is going to be what is NOT classified as "Religious Revenge," isn't it? I'm thinking anything done by white, western Christians. no?

Sorry Counsel, it's still a Hate Crime! But as the article explained, "He's a really nice guy".

How is this NOT terrorism? Well, one very important reason that it is not terrorism is that it happened in flyover country instead of in NYC, the center of the universe.
(Do I really need a sarcasm tag? I know it is dangerous to assume that they are implicit.))

It's not just you; on Fox yesterday, they interviewed the editor of
The Daily Tarhell and Greg Jarrett practically accused him of inciting to riot by publishing the Mohammed caroon in their paper.
It was stunning; from what I read, the DTH published them thinking that they were having a FREE discussion, whether you and I agree with their take or not; now they are being accused of stirring the pot.
In all my years, I've yet to see a LIBERAL university dress down for printing something controversial -- in fact, quite the opposite: it's ALWAYS justified by any and all by saying that it's their RIGHT to publish what they want.
And now, evidently, we're entering into a new phase where a certain class, i.e., Muslims, are not to be "disturbed."

Muslim men are cowards and sadists.
I'd love to see Mohammad dressed as a female dominatrix.
