Al Qaeda warned the government of the United Arab Emirates more than three years ago that it "infiltrated" key government agencies, according to a disturbing document released by the U.S. military. The warning was contained in a June 2002 message to UAE rulers, in which the terror network demanded the release of an unknown number of "mujahedeen detainees," who it said had been arrested during a government crackdown in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
The explosive document is certain to become ammunition for critics of the controversial UAE port deal, who fear the Dubai-based firm could be used by terrorists to sneak money and personnel into the United States.
Little is known about the origins or authorship of the message.
"You are well aware that we have infiltrated your security, censorship and monetary agencies, along with other agencies that should not be mentioned," the message said.
"Therefore, we warn of the continuation of practicing . . . policies which do not serve your interest and will only cost you many problems that will place you in an embarrassing state before your citizens.
"Your homeland is exposed to us. There are many vital interests that will hurt you if we decided to harm them."
The document was among a batch of internal al Qaeda communications captured by U.S. forces in the war on terror.

Translation..... They have three Paki tea boys serving the government office buildings.
The UAE isn't a charitable organization that's giving us the right to dock there for free. We pay them. But that's not why were important to them. We're important because if we weren't there the Iranians would swoop over and take their oil fields. And if we said "dock our ships for free or we're pulling out, they would dock our ships for free. Now, the relationship is equal. When the war is over, it will be unequal in our favor.
My suggestion to the scardy cats who are afraid the UAE won't like them? They should stop acting so desperate. It's not attractive.
Alqaeda sympathizers are right here in our own congress.
Note to Al Qaeda: Jack Bauer is a real person and he is in that van 2 vehicles behind you.......
I'm just standing by my principles. We shouldn't lease our sovriegnty to ANY foriegn governments and I want to know what kind of proof we'll have that money won't find it's way into the hands of terrorists.
Why would they announce this, if it were true?
It seems rather to one's own disadvantage to publicly point out any kind of covert asset or operation of the type that the announcement describes.
I wonder if this isn't just more smoke and mirrors from 'truce offer' Al Qaeda.
.....We pay them....
Because we do business because they ,the GCC, are capitalists and perhaps the most pure capitalists of all.
But then NO ONE will be running U.S. ports!! AND we'll be considered "racists" and xenophobes"!! /sarc
I question the timing of this being Bush's fault.
Or, just maybe instead of relying on propaganda statements from Al Qaeda, he knows the reality of the situation instead. It is amazing how suddenly 4 year old Al Qaeda propaganda is suddenly taken as the gospel truth.
>>lease our sovriegnty
Please. Running parts of port operations is not "leasing our sovriegnty [sic]".
Many foreign-owned companies are already running similar operations in the U.S., including Hutchison Whampoa.
Probably, but Al Qaeda, Zarqawi, bin Laden, and Co. are pretty desperate to stay in first on our threat list right now. Anyone can make the front page by blowing something up. But even that's hard to do if you're spending most of your time hiding under rocks so that you won't get blown up.
Why is it that so few here understand this concept?
ping for later
