Maybe S.P.E.C.T.R.E is really behind it all.

Looks like Bush didn't bother to read his own intelligence reports before defending the ports deal. This is going to add more heft to that political tsunami that threatens to crash down on the White House.

We don't have to act desperate about this port deal. Too many here are jumping fearing we won't be liked. There's much about the UAE that's not understood. As to who needs who the most?

The UAE isn't a charitable organization that's giving us the right to dock there for free. We pay them. But that's not why were important to them. We're important because if we weren't there the Iranians would swoop over and take their oil fields. And if we said "dock our ships for free or we're pulling out, they would dock our ships for free. Now, the relationship is equal. When the war is over, it will be unequal in our favor.

My suggestion to the scardy cats who are afraid the UAE won't like them? They should stop acting so desperate. It's not attractive.

Ah.....SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. Do you think a Walther PPK in 7.65mm or .380 ACP is enough to halt Al Qaeda????

Why would they announce this, if it were true?
It seems rather to one's own disadvantage to publicly point out any kind of covert asset or operation of the type that the announcement describes.

I wonder if this isn't just more smoke and mirrors from 'truce offer' Al Qaeda.

I question the timing of this being Bush's fault.

Probably, but Al Qaeda, Zarqawi, bin Laden, and Co. are pretty desperate to stay in first on our threat list right now. Anyone can make the front page by blowing something up. But even that's hard to do if you're spending most of your time hiding under rocks so that you won't get blown up.

According to Press Guy Scott Mac, this was all reviewed and the President asked all the departments if there was a problem and they said no. Besides he just recently found out about this semi-secret deal in return for use of UAE military bases and ports for our carrier group. (Source; Whitehouse briefing)

According to the President, UAE is one of the strongest supporters of the WOT despite the fact that they supported AQ up until 9-11, contributed two of the terrorist of 9-11, CONTINUALLY GIVE money to the Iraqi insurgents, recognized the Taliban until the US routed them, bankrolls Hamas and served as their media proxy, is a major port corridor for opium and other illegal drugs which finances jihads, and refuses to recognize Israel.

Let's be careful not to be xenophobic and get our facts straight. Let's not be racist--the British company that controlled our ports before (oh you didn't know the US doesn't control dockside activity in six of its major ports--shows you how racist and uninformed you all are) the Brits may secretly be our enemy as well even if they are not fanatical and support worlwide terrorism. It's our racism that blinds us to PRINCIPLE. This deal is right based on PRINCIPLE.

I suggest you all visit the UAE in Abu Dabi and have the Prime Minister wine and dine you to allay your fears. Then you can tour the Dubai port facilities in your own personal convoy of Maybacks. You will see this port deal is good for the global economy and you will find Al Queda a whimsical farce.

This whole ordeal is embarrassing to no end. Running the day to day operation of our ports is NO threat to America. It's like saying that Daimler is going to threaten America by neo-nazis infiltrating Chrysler. I am ashamed to be a conservative right now...I'm sorry to say. We have proved to the left that we are reactionary and easily manipulated. President Bush is a man of principle. He will stand by this deal because he believes there is no threat and the UAE deserves to be treated as an ally not an enemy. He will not back down. No matter how many Al Qeada propaganda reports are released.

Proof that they didn't. If they had they'd never dare brag of it--it would undo their work!

If the openly claim it, then they probably haven't Its not very good operational security to openly say, 'yes we have compromised your security!' Far better just to be quiet about it.

Al Qaeda warned the government of the United Arab Emirates more than three years ago that it "infiltrated" key government agencies, according to a disturbing document released by the U.S. military. The warning was contained in a June 2002 message to UAE rulers, in which the terror network demanded the release of an unknown number of "mujahedeen detainees," who it said had been arrested during a government crackdown in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

Almost 4 years later no sign of truth to the claim by Al Qaeda. Proof positive that UAE has flushed the system or found no AQers in the system. Additionaly, these papers also contain references to AQ operations in Iraq prior to US attack. You don't suppose the MSM will pick and choose what to believe based on their political leanings, do you?

Why would some organization tell another they infiltrated them? This sounds fishy to me.
