HILLARY GETS UGLY (invokes "white supremecists" to cover her union pandering)
NY Post ^ | February 24, 2006

Every now and then, Hillary Clinton lifts the curtain and gives the world a peek at her real views. It's not pretty.

New York's junior senator spoke this week to the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corp., raising the issue of tax-funded school vouchers — which many reformers see as a key tool, one that gives parents immediate alternatives to public schools that are failing to educate their kids.

Now, vouchers face a major obstacle in New York: The state constitution's Blaine Amendment arguably bans sending public funds to parochial schools.

Then there' the implacable opposition to vouchers of the United Federation of Teachers and its Albany-based parent, New York State United Teachers — politically potent unions that are entrenched in the failed status quo.

Any alternative to the present system is anathema to the unions and their bought-and-paid-for political minions.

However vouchers have succeeded in Milwaukee, Cleveland and parts of Florida — even if the unions claim that they simply take away precious resources from the public schools.

Hillary could have used that approach — dishonest as the argument may be.

But no, she had to go one step further.

One major demagogic step further.

Hillary waved the specter that vouch- ers would lead to a publicly-funded racist "School of the Church of the White Supremacist" or a radical Muslim "School of the Jihad."

"I won't stand for it," she added.

Of course she wouldn't.

No one would.

Certainly the hypersensitivity that informs public debate in New York and the nation is such that a hate academy of the sort Clinton conjures wouldn't last 10 seconds on the public dime.

Nearly 60 percent of New York City eighth-graders can't pass eighth-grade state math tests, despite the incremental progress of the Bloomberg regime. -snip-

In fairness to Hillary, there are very few private Protestant schools in NY

Are the Friends white racists?

How about that parents have no choice but to send their kids to the failed school of liberalism gone wild?

Ol Hildabeast is ommitting why people want vouchers to begin win.

Maybe she is uninformed, but one of the fastest growing segments of private schooling in America is Islamic schools

That is right and they are some of the biggest supporters of you know what.

Actually, I believe the Quakers were the first abolitionist religious group in our nation's history. My point is that you should not take it personally if Hillary did not specifically mention Protestant religious schools in NY. Relatively speaking, there are none. I wouldn't mention them either.

a publicly-funded racist "School of the Church of the White Supremacist" or a radical Muslim "School of the Jihad."

Not good, but a handful of those would certainly be no worse than the thousands of publicly funded "Schools of Marxism" that the state currently operates. After, all, Marxism has already led to the violent deaths of more millions of people than I can count on my fingers and toes, and the systematic dumbing-down of the population which Marxist-oriented curricula achieve is making it harder and harder for the general American public to deal effectively with nutcases like jihadists and neo-nazis, and easier and easier for nutcase groups to recruit muddle-headed Americans.

Ms. Clinton's statement is no more offensive than when her husband went to a black church and told the congregation they had endured too many "church bombings" and "lynchings" not to turn out and vote for Bob Dole. It played on teh news as a positive and teh gop never raised a peep against it.

In this case, democrats are keeping poor black folks, who overwhelmingly favor vouchers, from getting money to send their kids to better schools. democrats NEVER oppose more $$ for programs for black folks EXCEPT when it will cost them teacher union contributions. So tehy consign their constituents' kids to rot in hell. And again, I have never heard the GOP do a good job of calling the dems out.

Sorry, meant Clinton told them they had to vote against Bob Dole due to church bombings and lynchings (all done by democrats, of course).

I am aware that women and black only schools do exist and both receive public funds. I wonder how Mz Clinton feels about those inequities?

She's never had a bad word to say about her all-female alma mater Wellesley (which is actually an excellent school, in spite of having graduated Hillary).

Liberals are all about choice except when it comes to things like choosing where to send your kids to school, choosing to own a gun, etc.

All of my friends who I grew up with in MA send their kids to private schools from 7th grade onward. They are paying double. I guess only the rich really have a choice on schools.... You poor/middle class people get whatever the govt. decides your kids need for an education... no choice...

I can only assume that "The smartest woman in the world" knows that there are Protestant (Christian) schools.

But, hey if she keeps her act in NY and doesn't come here and try to get my vote, I'll let her slide this time.
