A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

State of the Union Address January 31, 2006
All eyes and ears will be on our President tonight as he delivers his SOTU address. I always look forward to his speeches and can't keep from laughing at the frowns and scowls on the faces of those on the dark side of the aisle (shown below in 2003).
Of course, when the President ends his speech, the other party gets the rest of the evening to respond. And then the media gets their turn to tell us what the President said, and how much better the State of the Union would be if the Democrats were in charge.
In short, the leaders of the Democrat party get to attack the President for all the things that have gone wrong since Florida 2000. Everything that has followed is Bush's fault - from 9-11 to Katrina. If you don't believe Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer, etal, just ask anyone who shapes the news: if it's bad, it's Bush's fault.
And besides all that, he smirks, and he's cocky, and.... he swaggers!
Have a wonderful Tuesday, and please keep President Bush in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to work towards a stronger and safer America.

Yes...that's why I call him "The Man of a Thousand Faces" because he has such an open expression that he just can't hide his emotions...no matter what they are.

Hi, Luvbo - I'm glad you like it - Dubya is still a hero to a whole bunch of us. In spite of all the piling on of the dims and their media lackeys, he's not going to let them get him down.

That's what I love about him. He just shrugs it off an continues down the path that he has chosen for himself and for us. We are the ones that hurt for him...he is actually very tough when it comes to criticism. Now, if someone were to criticise Laura or the girls or his parents, he would come out fighting.

Something to keep in mind when the pundits start disecting the SOTU speech and speculating on if it will improve Bush's 'poll numbers'........
TO: Republican National Committee Members
FROM: Matthew Dowd, RNC Senior Advisor
RE: State Of The Union Polls
DATE: January 30, 2006
As you watch tomorrow nights State of the Union Address, be mindful of poll numbers in the aftermath of the speech. A story line has developed that says the President has to move his approval numbers coming out of the speech. This notion is premised on the belief that presidents historically enjoy a State-of-the-Union Bounce. While all of us would welcome increased public approval, the history (both recent and the last 50 years) of poll movement around this event shows quite a different story.
In looking at poll movement before and after State of the Union addresses, the average over the last fifty years is actually a slight drop (-0.2%). President Bushs average change is also a drop (-0.4%). Only one of his SOTU addresses showed positive movement (2005), which is likely attributed to the intervening events of the 2005 Inaugural and January 2005 Iraqi elections. Even the Great Communicator President Ronald Reagans average poll movement after State of the Union addresses was negative (-2.6%), and in fact Reagan only had one SOTU speech with positive poll movement!
All of this is important to keep in mind as pundits analyze and analyze and analyze the effects of President Bushs speech. Context is everything in politics.

Good Afternoon LadyX Those are fantastic pictures and post. :) The first election of our President was very stressful for many. I had a difficult time during that fiasco. It was to stressful for me and I had such fear, they would steal the election.
The morning after the 2nd election I was up really early. I heard a bleep on news that there may be problem with Ohio and counts. I turned off the TV and was upset. I went out to fill bird feeders. This will sound silly to some, I suppose but I looked at the sky and there was a rainbow and for some reason it struck me that was a sign it was going to be ok. God was telling me relax. :) It was incredibly beautiful. :)
