It's Hillary presidency, Bush told
Insight ^ | 17 January 2006

Posted on 01/16/2006 4:38:45 PM PST by Aussie Dasher

President Bush's advisers are resigned to the Democratic capture of the White House in 2008, according to senior Republican sources close to the White House.

GOP sources said White House strategists have attempted to persuade Mr. Bush that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Democrat and her party’s current front-runner to be the next presidential nominee, cannot be defeated in 2008. Bush strategists said the president should instead focus on seeking to retain the Republican majority in both houses of Congress in 2006 and 2008.

"There is nobody in the White House that will openly say we lost the presidency in 2008," a senior GOP source said. "But while the Democrats are completely focused on 2008, the White House has been completely aloof."

The strategists have argued that given the forecasts of a downturn in the economy, crises with China and Iran, Mrs. Clinton would be besieged with major problems that would ensure a one-term presidency, the sources said.

The strategists have pointed out that Mr. Bush, given the failing health of Vice President Dick Cheney, does not have a natural successor. Recently, Mr. Cheney, who suffers from heart problems, was rushed to the hospital because he had difficulties in breathing.

The sources said the strategists have assessed that Mrs. Clinton would easily win the Democratic leadership and the subsequent race for president. They said Mr. Bush has pledged to campaign vigorously for any GOP presidential nominee.

Administration sources said Mr. Bush has discussed the prospect of a Clinton presidency. But they asserted that the president has focused on the 2006 elections for Congress and the need to maintain the GOP majority.

"If we lost our majority in Congress, then the president immediately becomes a lame duck," an administration source said. "So, the talk of 2008 is not only premature, it's harmful."

This has RINO paws all over it, as in "Vote for whatever lefty Republican we nominate or you'll get Hillary."

Last time we all took their advise we got Bob Dole, Clinton's re-election, and Viagra commercials.

I have serious doubts as to the content of this Insight article. However the notion the Bush doesn't have a designated successor is accurate. Cheney has his limitations, and Bush needs to start thinking beyond 2006.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Of all the names thrown around, Rudy seems to have the best chance to stir that kind of grassroots action. As we saw in the aftermath of September 11, he has an ability to connect and lead. But Rudy can only do that on a small number of conservative issues. (Bush did it with WOT, abortion, judicial nominees, etc.)

Rudy is anti-gun, a letch with his ex-wives, pro-gay, pro-abort, and corrupt! He will NOT connect with conservative voters once they get to know the REAL Rudy (not the sanitized version on FoxNews).

May I remind you that Rudy was suffering in the polls until 9/11 happenned. You Rudy supporters make such a fetish out of September 11th. The only folks who are pushing Rudy are the (New York based) media and RINOs who would like to hijack the party.

F-ck Rudy and the whore he rode in on.

I don't buy it. Not for one second.

This is bogus. The absence of a known candidate for the Republicans does not mean Hillary will be president.

Let's get real.

I believe that this is a stone-cold lie.
I have no doubt that this article was generated by the Hillary camp.

"Even the democratic party isn't this optimistic that Hillary will win."

Yeah, cuz she supported the War, before she opposed it.

And Americans don't trust democrats with National Security, least of which the wife of the President that mainly sat on his hands, while the terrorists plotted and executed, time after time.

War vs. Police Action.

Hmmmmm? We have something in common? Who knew?

I doubt there is anything in common.

They are stupid.

They believe she really is a moderate and borderline republican (stop laughing).

Hillary is risk adverse, which means, she is taking the left wing for granted and thinks she can get votes from the middle and also either get votes from the right wing, or at least hope they stay home if its a nonconservative republican.

I've seen her campaign for office, she is pretty bad, some of my friends like her, and they like in spite of how bad she is as a campaigner.

The DUmmies might rally around some nut like Feingold or some other idiot, but, Hillary will win the nomination anyway, at which point, she'll get her rear end handed to her in the general elections.

DU, for what its worth, is not a serious barometer for the left, the daily kos is, DU is a bunch of losers with conspiracy stories who the rest of he left wing laughs at.

That said, look at the undeclared candidates for 2008.....they are raising money to run for prez by bashing hillary.....in democratic crowds (see Warner, Richardson, Biden, etc).

Regardless, September 11 did happen and Rudy made an emotional connection with the entire country as result. He's not my choice, 1st, 2nd or otherwise, but at the moment the Republicans have nobody with that national claim except maybe McCain (who I will never vote for).

I'm not even talking about most Americans.

I mean the far evil left wing traitors.

They both don't like her and don't think she can win.

Americans in general will vote against her, but if she has to spend tons of money to win in the primary (which I do think she will win), she is dead in the water.

FWIW, the sewer folks on the left, want to draft Barbra Boxer, and are already starting to form a Feingold bandwagon (although slowly).

I hate college football. It's decided by the national press. Auburn went 13-0 in 2004 and couldn't land a spot to play for the title.

USC, yadda yadda. You shared the title one year with LSU. What a joke of a sport.

If we had the press voting for congress, senate and president like they do for college football rankings we'd have one heckuva country. All Democrats all the time.

Yeah, I remember a Zogby poll in the last week of October predicting Kerry would win by 2-3% in the popular vote. I knew it was wrong; probably flawed polling methodology, including oversampling of Democrats who are more likely to be home when pollers call on weekends.

A quick scan over at the DUmpster shows they want to throw her off the cliff.

Really? Hm, maybe it's time for a little "bi-partison cooperation."
