This morning, Round 1 concludes with Senators on the Judiciary Cmte. who did not question nominee Alito yesterday. During Round 2, questioning is limited to 20 minutes for each of the eight- een senators. Chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) leads off, followed by the others, alternating by party in order of seniority.

Has he from the onset or was he trying to get the best soundbites for the evening news? The man is an embarrassment to my State and is far too beholden to special interest groups.

I wish someone would ask him just what he's insinuating in his questions. Perhaps Cornyn will do that in his subtle but masterful manner.

12:42: Sen. Kennedy moves for executive session to subpoena these documents* from CAP. Specter says this takes him by suprise but Kennedy says it shouldn't because Kennedy sent a letter about this topic. Specter says he didn't receive it and refuses to rule. Kennedy wants to appeal. However, Specter says there's no decision to appeal. Specter says he'll consider it and that he's the chair and moves on.

Basically it was a shouting match and Spectre told K that he did not run the committee.

Spector and Kennedy got into it over a letter that Kennedy's office was supposed to get over to Spectors office. It was a riot!

Kennedy said, "I KNOW you recieved it..." and Spector cut him off saying, "DON'T you tell me what I receieved and what I didn't!!"

Someone said CNN had the video on their front page.
