JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A state senator wants to force Missouri stores to sell warm beer. Under a bill by Sen. Bill Alter, grocery and convenience stores would risk losing their liquor licenses if they sold beer colder than 60 degrees. The intent is to cut down on drunken driving by making it less tempting to pop open a beer after leaving the store.
"The only reason why beer would need to be cold is so that it can be consumed right away," Alter, who has been a police offer for more than 20 years, said Thursday.
I've been them
LOL....so bad......it's good.
The poster is a retread troll. He comes back and gets zotted almost daily. Sometimes several times per day. As the bear said, "he's not in it for the hunt."
I'll be pondering that question all weekend! In the meantime.......got milk? :)
Yo! Good stuff. Not as heavy alcohol as the German brands, excellent nutty taste. Great if one is diabetic (i'm not), cause there's no sugar, salt or preservatives.
i also like Penn Pilsner, a Pittsburgh area microbrew that's brewed according to the German Purity Law. It's pretty potent, and very good.
Thanks for the quick response and the heads up Jim.
Interesting. Thanks for the clarification on lagers.
But it's a beer thread!
They don't come along every day! 8^)
I've been "corrupted" (according to my buddies here) by English Ales and German Lagers, even Japanese Lagers during many years of business travel.
Always felt guilty here by not wanting to drink the mass-market stuff. Straub brewery is not that far of a drive....think I might take a tour ;^)
Where is the best place to pick up Penn Pilsner? Southside?
I know, I know. And we can still enjoy the thread in spite of the troll's timely demise.
Cheers!
Sing along in honor of the dearly departed troll:
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.
And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.
And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me
Today I prefer a good dark, but not too dark. Killian Red and a local micro brewery pale ale is now my favorite.
"Serious drunks will drink their beer warm. I've seen them."
Step right up folks, and see the serious drunks!
Now over here we have drunks who can't take a damn thing serious! Step right up.
"Glad Leineys has survived the megabeer barons."
Leinie is owned and brewed by SABMiller.
Van Merritt originally was a beer brwed by the Monarch Brewery in Chicago. The brand was started by Joe Fusco, an old aide of Al Capone.
Being a vet of WWII, Korea and 'Nam should get you any title you damn well please.
Although I haven't engaged in a beer-bout for quite some time, I remember chilling hot ones almost instantly with a blast of propane - or anhydrous ammonia.
Better yet, back in the good ol' days, one could simply pull through the drive-up liquor store window and exchange anywhere from 1 to a truckload of warm beer for the same cold, even-up.
Egad! I'm a fossil!
