~ The FReeper Canteen Presents ~

Modern Times:
What are your predictions for 2006?

Welcome to the FReeper Canteen!

Next Wednesday we'll begin a new exciting series: The Canteen Kids will begin doing threads for our Troops and the Canteen!! So? Don't miss out the chance to see the next generation of Canteeners do their thing!!

As for this week, we shall return to an old favorite!

Your Opinions Please

Main Topic:

What are your predictions for 2006?

Examples follow below:

1. The Cubs will win the World Series and tomkow will be forced to take a bath. (*snicker*)

2. Reggie Bush, of USC, will become the second most popular Bush in the state of Texas.

3. Our Troops will continue to get the job done at home and abroad.

4. Congress will yet again give themselves a raise. Just goes to show that creating a lot of hot air will eventually pay off.

5. MoJo will still hate eating tofu.

6. hotstreak will still hate eating cheese.

7. Outside of winning the World Cup, most Americans will still ignore soccer as a whole.

See how this works?

Rules:

1. No
politics!

2. Keep it funny, but remember this is a family site.

3. Graphics and pictures are great to share.

Before we leave you, The FReeper Canteen, Mr.Tonkin, and MoJo would like to thank Spotsy for doing the Pancakes on Wednesday when someone was needed to fill in. She did a fabulous job. Despite having limited time, she made sure that our Troops had a thread every Wednesday. Thank you Spotsy! Don't stay gone too long!!

Have at it folks!!

I think my hubby's given up on me altogether. He just goes to sleep in his chair! LOL! He actually stays up later than I do usually. If work didn't get in the way, no telling what kind of hours I'd keep!

I've been at my desk, in 10 minutes, 14 straight hours, and just a bit left to finish for today. How's the box emptying coming? Nana's knees holding up? '06's ankle being taken care of properly? Remember, lift with your knees. LOL!

Miners who are part of the rescue team prepare to enter the mine Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2005 in Tallmansville, W. Va. Rescue teams pushed deep into a mine Tuesday where 13 workers were trapped by an explosion more than 24 hours earlier, and air tests showed dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide.

Only 12 out of 13 survivors? It must be Bush's fault!

Soldiers secure an area near Baqubah, Iraq, where five police recruits were killed by a suicide car bomber on Monday. Thirteen people were wounded. The victims were riding on a police bus to a training center.

No so called journalists were injured in this bombing (as usual) because they were miles away writing photo captions, just as is your humble correspondent.

An Iraqi tank with the 2nd Army Brigade takes up a position near a village north of Baqubah, Iraq, where 40 people were detained during an early morning raid, on Monday. The U.S. Army provided air support.

Just a few Iraqi Troopers doing a bit of dusting, at the office.

National Guard Staff Sgt. Jim Saleda rescues two men after their canoe tips over in the flooded streets of Guerneville, Calif., on Sunday. A powerful storm sent rivers and creeks over their banks and into cities and set off mudslides that blocked major highways across Northern California. Though thoroughly soaked, neither man was hurt.

Gee Sarge, we were certain that this 6 inch water canoe trick was going to get us on the Today Show on NBC

Sgt. Tom Bennett (right) of the 579th Engineers, California Army National Guard, holds on to Sgt. Jim Saleda while clearing debris for their truck as they drive through the flooded street in Monte Rio, Calif., on Sunday. The soldiers are taking part in relief efforts following two recent major rain storms that flooded the region.

Hey Sarge, I lost my gloves, we should impeach the President.

Sgt. Osmeris Romero, left, is greeted by her father, Francisco Romero of Grand Rapids, Mich., as members of the 180th Transportation Company return home from Iraq, in Muskegon, Mich., on Saturday.

The editorial staff on a number of news outlets were confounded to learn that small American flags were sold out in the greater Muskegon area.

The grandmother and father of an Iraqi infant known publicly as Baby Noor take the infant to awaiting transportation in Southwest Asia from a C-130 Hercules transport attached to the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing on Wednesday. The child was headed to the United States to receive treatment for spina bifida.

Front page on the New York Times.....NOT!

An F-14D Tomcat assigned to the “Tomcatters” of Fighter Squadron Three One (VF-31) performs a high-speed fly-by past the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday, during the ship’s deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Numerous complaints have been made due to the violation of the law of sound, and the Secretary of the Navy is anticipating that heavy fines may be imposed.

Just another day at the office for our Troops.

Sounds like this new system is going to take some time to get used to. Hang in there...

Okay...we're about half done emptying boxes...looking around, I still have 6 here in the den and 4 or 5 out in the living room that I need to empty...I just have to remember which drawers things went into!

Nana is just barely going to make it to the end of the month and her second surgery. She hurt her bad knee last week, and is really having a rough time getting around.

'06 is in physical therapy for his ankle now, and will probably go back to work tomorrow or Thursday. He moved to a new apartment in Tucson Friday, and we're empty-nesters again!

Now, I guess Sarge will have to try to out-do you! LOL! You're both good! I always look forward to your dueling captions.

Oh, golly, Hijinx. Sorry to hear about Nana injuring her bad knee. The pain must be awful. Just glad she's going to get it taken care of before too long.

Oh, man, I'm sinking fast. I think it's finally caught up with me. ***yawn*** Think I'm gonna have to bug out on the night crew "early"!
