A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

To Be Our King

As shepherds watching flocks just saw,
And stilled their fears to stand in awe,
While miracles rained down again,
The Son of God has come to men.

The wise men of a distant land,
Have journeyed far to be at hand,
To witness what has been foretold,
By prophecies in days of old.

The age of Love and Peace thus starts,
With a Child’s sweet smile to melt our hearts.
And softly all the voices pray,
God’s Will be done on this Thy day.

God’s will be done. God’s will be done.
For we have seen His promised Son!
God’s will be done. Oh, let us pray!
God’s will be done, on this Thy day!

A Babe has come to be our King,
A gentle, humble offering,
The Angels have borne tidings of,
A gift of God to show His Love.

And what a gift He lets us see,
Example of what we should be,
A child in heart, and innocence,
And thus our lives for him commence.

Let us surrender what we seek,
And bow to Him as children meek,
For God loves children, it is shown,
By Sacrifice that you have known.

God’s will be done. God’s will be done.
For we have seen His promised Son!
God’s will be done. Oh, let us pray!
God’s will be done, on this Thy day!

The Star and a Humble Cowboy

Lord, you cared so much for the shepherds,
you sent the glad news first to them --
Before the kings and the wise men,
so you might just speak again

To some other humble herdsman
out here on the range abiding --
A brilliant star, an angel choir
proclaiming "Peace! Glad tidings!"

The shepherds were common people
who slept in the fields near their flocks;
Their clothes might be dirty and ragged
and rugged and rough their talk.

So, Lord, I needn't apologize
for my appearance or my words.
I know you're right here beside me,
and it seems that I've just heard

The shepherds hastening, excited,
Extolling the star they had seen,
A baby born in a manger;
Not to some great king and queen,

But to people who do the menial tasks
That housewives and carpenters do,
And farmers and desk clerks and waitresses --
Just people like me and you.

But famous rich men brought presents,
Which should prove what I know to be true --
Christ came for shepherds and wise men
And kings and cowboys too.

I've been buying and wrapping presents – something I'm not crazy about.

I hope you're crazy about buying and wrapping my present, at least. LOL.

I may be on the phone for a while, but I'll check back in here in about 30 minutes or so.

Good evening, Pistov Elf. Nice to meet you.

I was away for awhile tonight.
We met several Freeper Friends for dinner.
Good food and great company, who could ask for anything more?

Have a very Merry Christmas.

Please accept my apologies for being a lousy hostess today.

It was one of those days when things that couldn't be ignored just kept popping up.

White Space

Read:
2 Timothy 4:6-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. —2 Timothy 4:7

Bible In One Year: 2 Timothy 1-4

cover For nearly 50 years, Ann Landers dispensed advice in a daily column carried by more than 1,200 newspapers worldwide. When she died on June 22, 2002, her daughter Margo Howard wrote a farewell column. She asked the editors to leave a blank space for the last part of the column as a memorial to her mom.

The idea came from a column written years earlier when Ann and her husband divorced after a long marriage. Ann had requested the editors to leave white space at the bottom as a memorial to a once-good marriage "that didn't make it to the finish line."

When somebody writes your last column, how much "blank space" will it include? When you come to life's end, will there be important things left undone? Will that white space bear silent testimony to goals you never reached, good habits (like consistent Bible reading) you never formed, help you never gave, kind things you thought about doing but never did? Will a sizeable empty space say that you intended to develop a deeper relationship with God, but that a close intimacy remained an unfulfilled ideal? Or will others be able to say of you that you "finished the race, [and] kept the faith"? (2 Timothy 4:7).

Let's make sure our white space is small! —Vernon Grounds

Only the truth that in life we have spoken,
Only the seed that on earth we have sown;
These shall pass onward when we are forgotten,
Fruits of the harvest and what we have done. —Bonar

To get the most out of life, make every moment count for Christ.

I haven't posted in so long, I couldn't remember all my friends names here. HA!

I got a part time job which has turned into a full time job and we're STILL trying to homeschool the kids. (Tim works from home so it's possible). I'm also making at least 2 quilts a month, so....I'm a little busy.

Anyway, I miss you all. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Wish we had another Inagural Ball to look forward to in January, one of the best nights of our life! The kids STILL talk about it!!! Jim, thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to bless my children with that life long memory. It meant so much to us that it was a family friendly event. God love you!

We have another nephew leaving for Iraq. He's leaving right after Christmas. We thought he was leaving in January, but now we just found out last night he is leaving sooner. He's in the Missouri guard, I'll have to ask my SIL which unit. Anyway, be praying for him and his unit. He's an Apache helicopter pilot, but we don't think he'll be doing that. We aren't sure yet what his job will be. He wants to be shooting at the enemy, but we want him tucked away in a quiet corner working on a computer. *sigh*

Anyway, please pray for him. He's Chris Moenster, and he's 6'5, dark and gorgeously handsome (amazingly so!!) and in need of a GOOD wife, but he'll be gone for a year. You'll have to wait until he gets back.

His brother, Todd is a B2 Stealth pilot. He needs a wife too, but can't find a good Christian woman who is willing to move to Kansas City to be with him. If you know anyone, let me know. ROFL (I'm not kidding). These two brothers like smart, conservative, beautiful, Christian women. Ugly liberals need not apply.

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Hooches and Smugs! (Pray for me. My mother is coming! ACK! God help me!)

You are welcome JustAmy.

My friend Bob typed up that poem, folded it into a Christmas card he sent me eons ago. I have been in love with it ever since.

And, Dolly, you are right! There is a musical version, so you're not getting THAT old THAT fast! Bob also custom taped various Christmas songs and a lovely sounding gal sang that one, but I can't remember her name, Carol somebody. After 2+ decades, the tapes finally wore out.

I am also a social dud, which is why FReeping suits me to a T...!

Hi Spooky!!! So good to see you my friend.

I'm so glad things are going well for you guys. Good for you.

Anyway, please pray for him. He's Chris Moenster, and he's 6'5, dark and gorgeously handsome (amazingly so!!) and in need of a GOOD wife, but he'll be gone for a year. You'll have to wait until he gets back.

I'll be praying for both of them. May God protect them during their journey.

Hey, I'm not an ugly liberal, can I apply? LOL.

Merry Christmas, Spooky.
