(Bush Speech Live Thread) Bush to compare Iraqis to America's founders

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush is using a visit to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, birthplace of the U.S. Constitution, as a reminder before the Iraqi elections that the path to American democracy was not always easy either.

Pennsylvania also is the home state of a leading Iraq war critic, Democratic Rep. John Murtha, who planned to speak on Bush's heels and repeat his call to bring the troops home from a fight he says has become too violent and out of control...

Iraqis are preparing to vote under tight security to elect a 275-member parliament that will run the country for the next four years. The election will be the first under the new constitution ratified in an October 15 referendum and will complete the steps toward democratization following the ouster of Saddam Hussein's government.

Monday's Iraq speech is Bush's third, part of a campaign to win support for the mission, with most Americans saying in polls that they disapprove of his handling of the war. The speech is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. ET.

Very difficult these day to even FIND a respected journalist. Certainly this little girl can't claim to be one.

The President never ever linked Saddam with 9-11.

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

He said, "We can't just hope for the best anymore.

My favorite quote to keep me 'up' is this by St. Augustine:
Hope has two sisters,
Anger and Courage.
Anger at the way things are,
and Courage to change them.

Are you listening, you editors and reporters at the NY Times?

Surely you jest, my friend.

That's good. "Knowing what I know NOW, I would do it again."

It was the RIGHT thing to do! We ARE safer because Saddam is gone............but not yet safe.

Yes, as I heard the question I thought the same thing. There is no such thing as a respected journalist, in my mind.

To be a respected journalist ..

One has to be an HONEST journalist

There are very few of them around

Interesting how 43 isn't afraid to take it the blue bits. But you'll never find a Dem doing the same in the red bits.

Friends of mine from the left have said to me more than once that some people aren't ready for or capable of democracy.

Only someone who has grown up fat and had it too easy could say something like that. No one that has grown up under oppression could ever feel that way. Freedom is addictive. That sentiment makes me sick.

That makes America a better place and a safer country.

"Makes the world a better place, and America safer."

Next question was whether or not the action in Iraq reduced the risk of terror on American soil. President Bush said that we are still at risk.

Precisely. The editors and staff at the Slimes currently have their fingers in their ears and are yelling "LA LA LA LA" at the top of their lungs.

Have you read the latest Norman Podhoretz column? He quotes a "jouranlis" that came out and said the MSM will never report on the gains in Iraq such as water and sewer improvements because "our soldiers are still dying and American soldiers are worth a lot more than Iraqi *hit".

Isn't that special....
