This story was reported on Fox and Friends this morning.
Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.

Update: Since Joshua will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by America's response, please consider sending (instead of or in addition to Joshua) cards to these find troops:
Excerpt from Brian K. at FNC:
If you have the time, please try and include the others I met along with Col. North and Col. Hunt at Walter Reed:
Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran
You might try Fox News. It was Brian Kilmead who broke the story this morning. I think Michele Milken also has written about it on her blog.
Lump in throat
Bump!!

Such communications often mean more then carefully worded letters.
A friend of mine who is in the Army Reserves got back from 18 months in Iraq a few months ago. His most prized possession is a crayon drawing of an American flag that a 9-year-old girl sent him over there to thank him for his service.
I'm sure Joshua Sparling or whichever serviceman receives your son's card will feel the same way.
Soldier?
I think we can assume the letter writer is not a child and is not a proponent of the war in Iraq.
Awww!! It's stories like that that keep me going.
Proof positive that blonds are far from dumb :)
Let the canteen know that Mark Simone started a fantastic oldies show last Saturday from 6-10 p.m. EST on 77WABCNY.
It was fantastic, I will start a thread this Saturday.
I concur, kids are not that mean spirited.
Thanks Star!!
I do not know who the hell would do this, I would never EVER want to associate myself with folks who would want this for our military.
OK, you do not like where the administration took us but what the hell, to actually send such note to a soldier recovering .... I am sick and tired of it. What in God's name did he do to deserve such disdain? I am sick of the bad mouthing, the anger, at this point let's finish the job and once they are home then go down this road. Because if this is the support of the left and OK I am making a judgement call on this, then I am washing my hands of being a fair person and listening to their point of view.
Who on the left will denounce this behavior?
Oh, and please take a moment to send this fine young man a card, note something to show your support of his efforts. Frankly if you do or you don't it is on your ahoulders.
Oh, the Left will denounce it, telling us how they would never condone such mean behavior. Trust me, I've heard them say it while they're protesting right outside the Walter Reed hospital!
I already wrote the card & am mailing it off today.
bttt
Beautiful... now that's done by a child with a pure heart. Great job you.
Congratulations to your son ~ good stuff, Star*!
Here's the story on Fox:

I went to Fox News and the letter is very distrubing. In reading the threads I was wishing that it was some small child that had missed putting in the "don't" in "I hope you don't die". Obviously not the case.
From the Fox site (hope it's okay to copy):
Send your get-well and holiday wishes to:
