"Dear Joshua, I hope you die!" -- J. Sparling (Walter Reed patient)

This story was reported on Fox and Friends this morning.

Joshua Sparling just got to Walter Reed last week and received ONE letter from someone writing in a child's printing. Among other things it told him to die. The soldier has the card on the wall of his room. I know FReepers can counter this despicable action with some of our own letters.

Joshua Sparling

Walter Reed Army Medical Center

6900 Georgia Avenue N.W.

Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

Update: Since Joshua will undoubtedly be overwhelmed by America's response, please consider sending (instead of or in addition to Joshua) cards to these find troops:

Excerpt from Brian K. at FNC:
If you have the time, please try and include the others I met along with Col. North and Col. Hunt at Walter Reed:

Capt. James Ollinger
Sgt. Zavian Simspon
Specialist Brian Radke
Specialist Jason Braase
Sgt. David Nevins
Sgt. Jose Ramos
Cpl. Todd Bishop
Sgt. Ryan Donnelly
Sgt. Eva Diane Cochran

I am sending as many cards as me and my family can sign, and leaving them un-adressed, so they can just be handed out to all the wounded there. Coop is gonna get a care package, and Walter Reed is going to get a large envelope with dozens of cards.

Fabulous idea - will do too!

FROM MICHELLE MALKIN --- Anyone else interested in doing the same for others at Walter Reed? Call and get a soldier's name to send a card. The number is (202)782-3501.

==================================================

We still have cards to send that have been paid for by 3 other FReepers and myself. We just need people to take a few minutes to choose the card and personalize it. It is done over the computer and is very easy. THIS IS A REAL CARD, NOT AN E-CARD.

Send me a note at freeper@verizon.net for instructions.

I've written a long note on a Christmas card and will put it in my mailbox for pickup when the downpour stops.

It WILL go out today.

This is one of those days I wish I still lived in No. VA. I'd go visit Joshua personally, shake his hand, thank him for his service, and chat with him.

Anybody know, does dougfromupland still have his "send a card through my program" going?

I'll get a card out...but I would REALLY like to see them track down the dirtbag that did this. Wonder if some anti-war teacher put a young student up to this?

I want to know if this was some sort of school project. I heard of hate letters getting to troopers stationed in Iraq coming from school kids.

Going to send that brave American a card today.

Why is it that the tinfoil hat left wing Communists think this will help their cause. All they do is teach and preach hate.

I have called some schools in my area to suggest that kids send cards. I hope everyone will do the same.

May I also suggest that you visit the Red Cross Office?

They are usually stocked to the gills but depend on friends and family members coming TO the office to pick up things.

We had a FR drive for all the items on your list last year and the year before, and asked that it be sent to the Red Cross office. Then I found out that the Red Cross DOES NOT deliver the items.

Family members and friends must go to the office and request the items. They are gladly handed over but the Red Cross claims that they just do not have the staffing to take the items TO the wards.

Find out what size or what your soldier needs when you visit, and then go to the Red Cross office and pick them up. They usually always have HUNDREDS OF PRE-PAID PHONE CARDS READY FOR YOU TO PICK UP!!!!!

Just a suggestion from somebody who used to visit Walter Reed.
